Please be aware that this article reveals major plot points from the Black Clover manga! After over a decade, Yuki Tabata’s popular Black Clover manga is concluding in the Spring 2026 issue of Jump GIGA magazine. The story ends with the Magic Knights winning the final battle against Lucius Zogratis, restoring peace to the Clover Kingdom. While Asta and Yuno are key to defeating the villain, it was Julius Novachrono, the Wizard King, who ultimately saved the kingdom. Knowing he was nearing the end of his life, Julius used his Time Magic to rewind events and secure victory.
As he died, the former Wizard King asked his most trusted knights – Yami, William, Asta, and Yuno – to protect the Clover Kingdom. With the kingdom now without a leader and the fighting finished, it’s time to choose a new Wizard King. But the next one might surprise everyone, as it won’t necessarily be Asta or Yuno.
Black Clover Might Find a Stand-in Wizard King, Like in Naruto

After the Fourth Great Shinobi War in Naruto, Kakashi Hatake became Hokage temporarily, serving until Naruto was prepared to take over. It took more than ten years for Naruto to prove he was ready to lead the village and finally achieve his dream. In contrast, Asta and Yuno are still very young, barely 18, and while they’ve done amazing things, they might not be considered mature enough to lead a kingdom like Julius did.
It’s amazing to think that even his last words, Julius was speaking to Yami and William – they’re both seriously strong contenders to become the next Wizard King! The whole story has always revolved around the rivalry between Asta and Yuno, pushing each other to see who could reach the top. And honestly, beating Lucius wouldn’t have been possible if they hadn’t teamed up – they really needed each other to win!
Currently, their abilities are far beyond anyone else’s, and they’re nearly equal in strength. But since there can only be one Wizard King, and this story typically favors its main character, Asta is likely to win. This suggests the series might conclude with a temporary Wizard King, allowing the younger, promising knights time to fully develop their leadership skills.
