Over the course of nearly three decades, the popular manga “One Piece” has presented over 30 distinct story arcs, some of which didn’t receive as much attention as they might have deserved. As an action shonen series, “One Piece” skillfully combines intense, dark themes with humorous elements, resulting in a captivating masterpiece that continues to impress. Remarkably, almost every aspect depicted in the story, from minor details to seemingly random events, ultimately ties back into the larger narrative and contributes to the overall plot development. Yet, this intricate storytelling doesn’t guarantee that every arc will resonate with all fans, regardless of their quality.
A significant portion of “One Piece” enthusiasts tends to appreciate thrilling battle scenes above other elements, which could be why the Long Ring Long Land Arc is often overlooked, despite its history spanning over two decades.
The Long Ring Long Land arc is undeniably amusing and truly embodies the core spirit of the series. With its absurd humor, it offers a unique perspective that sets the stage for the Water 7 Saga, widely regarded as one of the series’ finest sagas yet. Although it doesn’t explore the lore in-depth or showcase intense fights, Aokiji’s debut is one of its highlights. Many fans view it as almost a filler arc. However, the current arc within the Final Saga underscores the importance of the Long Ring Long Land Arc to the overall storyline, giving this often overlooked arc its due recognition.
The Most Notorious Pirate Crew in History Was Formed Thanks to a Davy Back Fight
The Long Ring Long Land Arc presents Foxy the Silver-Furred Pirate Fox and his band of pirates, who issue a challenge to Luffy and his team for a Davy Back Fight. This is an ancient pirate game that persists in the Grand Line as a tribute to the legendary pirate Davy Jones. Since One Piece hasn’t specified the time period from which Davy Jones hails, he is frequently viewed as a myth or legend. Despite his tale being shrouded in history, his name remains relevant till today.
In the recently published Chapter 1155 of “One Piece,” it’s revealed that Rocks D. Xebec, one of the most infamous pirates ever, built his crew through a brutal contest known as the Davy Back Fight. This followed Xebec causing unprecedented turmoil in the land of Reverie. He abducted five kings, breached the Flower Room, attempted to negotiate with Imu, and then murdered an Admiral. To top it off, he engaged in a fierce duel with Harald, resulting in a destructive blast felt over a five-kilometer area.
Following the Admiral’s demise, Xebec became a wanted pirate, earning a substantial bounty on his head. He traversed the seas aimlessly before establishing his official pirate crew at a later stage, even after forging alliances during the Davy Back Fight. The companions he met in the original game, such as Whitebeard, Shiki, Stussy, Kaido, Big Mom, and numerous others, would ultimately prove to be influential figures in the New World.
One Piece Is Finally Delving Deeper Into Xebec’s Past
In the current Elbaf storyline, Harald’s transformation from a rebellious youngster to the greatest king Elbaf has known is chronicled. Furthermore, for the first time, Xebec’s appearance is revealed, bearing a striking resemblance to Blackbeard, his offspring. Previously introduced in Chapter 957 as the most formidable adversary Roger and Garp ever encountered, Xebec played a significant role during the God Valley Incident. However, following his defeat, his crew disbanded, and his reputation waned. Despite Kuma’s backstory providing some insights into the God Valley Incident, little is known about the pirate himself.
It’s unlikely that the Global Administration wants people to continue associating someone as potentially harmful as him with their memories. Since he possessed insights into the past and present conditions of the world, very little information about him survives globally. A handful of high-ranking Navy Commanders are among the few who still recall him, but Sengoku is the only one willing to recount his tale. However, much of the legend surrounding the pirate remains untold. The backstory serves not only as an introduction to the pirate, but also sets the stage for understanding how the Rocks Pirate came into being.
