After the Flood season 2 air date confirmed by ITV as disaster thriller returns after shocking twists

ITV announced that season 2 of After the Flood will be coming out very soon.

The second series of the thriller, starring Sophie Rundle as detective Jo Marshall, will premiere on ITV1 and ITVX on Sunday, January 18th at 9pm.

With increasing concerns about floods and wildfires, the second season centers on Jo and her new colleague, Detective Sergeant Sam Bradley (played by Jill Halfpenny), as they investigate a strange death and hunt for a killer.

So, in the movie, my understanding is Jo really stirs things up by going after the bad guys, and it quickly gets complicated. It’s not just a simple case for her; it becomes something deeply connected to her own life, which is always great for a compelling story, right?

She’ll have to work in secret if she wants to uncover the decades-long corruption within the town’s police force, including potential involvement within her own family.

Returning for season 2 alongside Rundle is Nicholas Gleaves as Sergeant Mackie. In season 1, Jo uncovered Mackie’s corruption, but he silenced her with a threat to ruin her family if she revealed what she knew.

The season ended on a big cliffhanger as Jo was left debating whether to turn him in or not.

Philip Glenister is reprising his role as Jack Radcliffe, a previous partner of Mackie, and Faye McKeever will return as Kelly Kamali.

The show will see the return of several familiar faces, including George Bukhari as Keith Kamali, Maui Connock as Sophie Kamali, Tripti Tripuraneni as PC Deepa Das, Heider Ali as DS Babak, Leo Flanagan as Finn, and Jacqueline Boatswain as Sarah Mackie.

I was really excited to see some fresh faces joining Tom Halfpenny in this new project! Alun Armstrong, who I loved in Sherwood, Ian Puleston-Davies from Pennyworth, and Matthew McNulty, who was great in The Jetty, are all on board, which is fantastic news.

The cast of the show has grown to include Anil Desai, known for his role in ‘The Night Manager’ season 2, as well as Steph De Whalley (‘Doctor Who’), Nathalie Armin (‘Maigret’), Tony Marshall (‘Sister Boniface Mysteries’), Roger Morlidge (‘The Bank of Dave’), Oliver Nelson (‘Home Fires’), Jenny Platt (‘Waterloo Road’), and new actress Lola Brown.

After the Flood season 1 is available to stream now on ITVX.
