Season two of After the Flood is coming to ITV1 and ITVX, and while the risk of flooding remains a central issue, Detective Jo Marshall now faces the added challenge of wildfires.
Sophie Rundle, the star of the show, let me in on what to expect: apparently, things are about to get really intense. She described a scene where her character finds herself right in the middle of a wildfire on the moors – and naturally, she just has to get involved. Sounds like a recipe for some serious drama!
While others might avoid problems, she always rushes straight into them, even when it’s dangerous. That’s what makes her so admirable – she’s brave, maybe a little impulsive, and truly heroic.
Those are the same moors where Jo also discovers a dead body.
Honestly, the story really spirals into this complex web of secrets and deception. We’re constantly meeting new people, and it’s all tied together with this really interesting thread about environmental activism – it adds a lot to the tension, you know?
“Something is going on within the community that she needs to unpick, and all is not as it seems.”
So, when will season 2 of After the Flood be available to watch, and who else stars alongside Sophie Rundle? Here’s all the information you need.

After The Flood season 2 plot: what will happen?

In season 2, Jo steps into the role of detective, recently promoted, and quickly finds herself in charge of a perplexing new murder case.
The official description reveals that, with tensions already high in Waterside due to the danger of wildfires and potential flooding, a body has been found in strange conditions.
Her pursuit of the killer puts her at odds with important and well-connected people in town, and the case soon becomes much more than just a professional investigation – it hits close to home.
Jo needs to investigate quietly if she wants to uncover the long-standing corruption within the town’s police force, which has also affected her own family.
Regarding the major revelations from last season – that officer Mackie is corrupt and a murderer, responsible for the death of Daniel Eden from season one, and that Pat, Jo’s husband, had been accepting bribes for years – actress Rundle explained that in season two, viewers will see Jo grappling with these discoveries and trying to understand where she stands in relation to Mackie and Pat as she processes everything.
Things appear normal at first, but it quickly becomes clear she’s strategically planning to discredit Mackie and gather evidence against him.
She hasn’t given up and is already preparing to strike back.
