ITV has unveiled a first look at After the Flood season 2 ahead of its premiere in 2026.
The next episode of the thriller series centers on Detective Jo Marshall (played by Sophie Rundle), who has recently been promoted and is now investigating a series of puzzling murders in the town of Waterside.
We have a first look at some new images from the series. One shows Jo investigating the moorland, while another features her with the new character DS Sam Bradley, played by Jill Halfpenny. A third image hints at the growing conflict between Sergeant Mackie (Nicholas Gleaves) and his former partner, Jack Radcliffe (Philip Glenister).
In the town of Waterside, where worries about wildfires and potential flooding are growing, a strange discovery is made: a body is found under unusual conditions.
As Jo tries to catch the killer, she clashes with important people in town, and the case quickly becomes very personal. To uncover the long-hidden corruption within the police force – and involving her own family – she’ll have to work in complete secrecy if she hopes to succeed.

Returning with Rundle for season 2 are Faye McKeever as Kelly Kamali, George Bukhari as Keith Kamali, and Maui Connock as Sophie Kamali.
Tripti Tripuraneni is back as PC Deepa Das, alongside Heider Ali as DS Babak, Leo Flanagan as Finn, and Jacqueline Boatswain as Sarah Mackie.
The cast is also welcoming new actors, including Alun Armstrong, known for his role in Sherwood; Ian Puleston-Davies, who appeared in Pennyworth; and Matthew McNulty from The Jetty.

The cast also welcomes Anil Desai (from The Night Manager season 2), Steph De Whalley (Doctor Who), Nathalie Armin (Maigret), Tony Marshall (Sister Boniface Mysteries), Roger Morlidge (The Bank of Dave), Oliver Nelson (Home Fires), Jenny Platt (Waterloo Road), and new addition Lola Brown.
In February 2024, the first season of After the Flood ended with a shocking revelation: Jo discovered Mackie was the one responsible for the deaths of Chris and Daniel, leading to a tense confrontation.
Mackie blackmailed Jo, threatening to ruin her family if she revealed his actions. The show concluded with Jo outside her boss’s office, contemplating whether to report him to the authorities.
After the Flood season 1 is available to stream now on ITVX.
