After the Flood season 2 unveils explosive first-look trailer as Sophie Rundle drama returns

Sophie Rundle is returning for season two of the ITV drama, After the Flood. The first season ended with a major cliffhanger in January 2024, leaving viewers eager to see what happens next.

In the latest episodes, Jo Marshall—now a detective after a promotion—is tackling a puzzling new murder case.

I just read the synopsis for this new film, and it sounds gripping! Apparently, things are already tense in this town called Waterside – they’re dealing with the danger of wildfires and worrying about more floods. And on top of all that, someone’s found a body, and it’s all really strange.

As Jo tries to find the killer, she clashes with important people in town, and the case becomes very personal for her.

To expose the deep-rooted corruption within the police force, and the secrets surrounding her own family, Jo must be willing to put everything on the line.

You can watch the high-octane first look trailer at the top of this page.

Viewers will likely recall Sergeant Phil Mackie, who stepped in as a father figure for Jo after her father passed away. He was initially presented as a dependable and respected leader in the community, but was later revealed to be taking money illegally.

Investigators also discovered that Mackie killed Daniel Eden, the victim from season one, who was found in an underground parking garage after the floods.

The trailer suggests Nicholas Gleaves’s character will create more trouble for Jo. He’ll be joined by Lorraine Ashbourne, playing Jo’s troublemaking mother, Molly Marshall, Philip Glenister as developer Jack Radcliffe, and Matt Stokoe as Jo’s husband, Pat Holman, who has been secretly accepting bribes for a long time.

Faye McKeever returns as Kelly Kamali, Pat’s sister, alongside George Bukhari as Kelly’s husband, Keith, and Maui Connock as their daughter, Sophie.

Tripti Tripuraneni returns as PC Deepa Das, alongside Heider Ali as DS Babak, Leo Flanagan as Finn, and Jacqueline Boatswain as Sarah Mackie.

We’re thrilled to announce Jill Halfpenny will be joining the show as DS Sam Bradley. She’ll be acting alongside new cast members Alun Armstrong, Ian Puleston-Davies, and Matthew McNulty.

After the Flood season 1 is available to stream now on ITVX.
