Season two of *Dandadan* premiered in Summer 2025 and instantly became one of the most popular anime of the year. This season revealed the secrets of the Cursed House and then focused on the Evil Eye Arc, where Momo and her friends have trouble managing Jiji after he’s possessed. The season ended with a big cliffhanger right before finishing the Kaiju Arc, which also introduced two new characters, Kinta Sakata and Vamola. The third season will likely cover the Space Globalists Arc, considered the best and longest story arc in the series so far, meaning the studio will need more time to produce it.
Fans were happily surprised that Season 2 arrived so quickly after Season 1, as most anime take a year or more to release new seasons, regardless of their popularity. Despite this, the announcement of Season 3 didn’t give any indication of *when* it might be released. While fans wait, the best way to follow the story is to read the manga, which is further ahead. However, even the manga is taking its time, and the long-awaited confession between Momo and Okarun is still being drawn out.
Dandadan Has Been Delaying the Confession for Over a Year Already
The latest chapter of *Dandadan* (Chapter 159, released July 1st, 2024) caused a big reaction from fans after Okarun confessed his feelings to Momo. This happened as the Danmara Arc was reaching its climax, and Okarun and Momo were about to be separated so he could battle the Fairy-Tale Card. Determined not to be apart from her again, Okarun bravely told Momo how he felt. While Momo was happy to hear his confession, she asked him to express his feelings more fully once she was no longer trapped inside the cursed trunk.
It wasn’t surprising when Okarun confessed his feelings for Momo – the series had long suggested a connection between them. Okarun likely knew Momo felt the same way, but the constant danger they faced made it hard for them to deal with their emotions. Still, things became chaotic as soon as he told her how he felt. Unfortunately, the specific moment Momo had wished for never actually happened.
Following the conclusion of the Danmara Arc, Momo was affected by a curse that caused her to become smaller and smaller. Despite their best efforts, the group couldn’t find a way to reverse it. As they struggled with this, new dangers emerged, making things even harder. By Chapter 209, the curse had progressed so far that Momo vanished completely. Fortunately, she was discovered by a group of masked priests who were able to restore her, though it came at a significant cost.
Momo Loses All Memories of Okarun and the Others
In chapter 210, Momo is back with her friends and family, but she only remembers her grandmother, Seiko. This means she’s lost all her memories – everything that’s happened since the beginning of the story, including meeting Okarun and developing feelings for him. She’s gone back to how she used to be, refusing to believe in aliens. Okarun is taking this the hardest, especially after nearly losing her.
I’ve been following this story, and while the character’s memory loss seems temporary – she’ll get her memories back eventually – it feels like just another delay. It’s been over a year since they started hinting at a confession, and we’re still no closer to it happening. Honestly, I suspect we won’t get any real resolution until the very end of the manga. It’s been running for over four years now, and that’s usually when newer series in *Shonen Jump* start wrapping things up, so I’m guessing the end is near.
Even though the manga has reached a major turning point, it likely won’t end immediately. Similar stories often take many months, or even over a year, to finish. If *Dandadan* follows the pattern of other *Shonen Jump* series, it might conclude before hitting chapter 300, meaning fans could see the story end within the next two years.
