‘Agent From Above’ Images Tease This Week’s Release of Netflix Action Fantasy Series

Ahead of its release this week, the streaming service has shared new photos from its biggest action-fantasy series yet. After almost ten years in development, the platform is hoping the series will be a hit. It’s set in a world where humans and demons are at war, and it’s expected to surpass popular shows like The Witcher, Shadow & Bone, and Avatar: The Last Airbender.

The highly anticipated adaptation of Teensy’s popular novel, “The Oracle Comes,” is finally releasing after several years of setbacks. Production was delayed due to on-set injuries, a lengthy post-production process, and the pandemic. New images give fans a glimpse of the visually stunning action-fantasy story, which combines Taiwanese folklore with modern fantasy elements. The story follows Han Chieh (Kai Ko), a spirit medium who must help the Third Crown Prince (Wang Po-chieh) resolve supernatural problems as punishment for a past mistake.

During his journey, he teams up with Yeh Tzu, a cheerful college student, and Chang Min, a detective who can see ghosts. Together, this unlikely trio must battle a dangerous and mysterious enemy, all while investigating a powerful being that threatens the harmony between the human and demon worlds. Think of it as a blend of Supernatural and Constantine, but grounded in authentic Taoist beliefs and practices.

These newly released images showcase a thrilling blend of action and fantasy, featuring a diverse cast of characters wielding colorful weapons amidst a war between the human and immortal worlds. They offer a glimpse of the impressive visual effects used to create the epic story and its spectacular fight scenes. Director Kuan Wei-chieh promises a visually stunning experience with extensive VFX, dynamic choreography, and a powerful, energetic feel – and these images certainly deliver on that promise.

Directed by Kuan Wei-chieh and Lai Chun-yu, and featuring a strong cast of Taiwanese actors including Kai Ko (known for You Are the Apple of My Eye and Kung Fu), Wang Po-chieh (Life of Pi, The Embers), Buffy Chen (The Silent Forest), Johnny Yang (Warrior, The Rip), and Hsueh Shih-ling (Taiwan Crime Stories), the six-episode first season of Agent from Above will premiere worldwide on Netflix on April 2, 2026. The series was initially announced in 2019 and has been in post-production for three years.
