As a huge MCU fan, I’ve always been fascinated by where *Agents of SHIELD* truly fits into everything. There’s been so much debate – is it fully canon, or just *close* to it? Well, New York Comic Con just happened, and Clark Gregg himself is making it clear: he doesn’t buy the argument that *Agents of SHIELD* isn’t part of the official MCU story. It’s great to hear him set the record straight!
The actor strongly defended the show against criticism about its place in the established Marvel timeline, bluntly telling those who disagreed, “Go f yourself – we’re proud of what we did.” The response on X (formerly Twitter) was varied, with some viewers calling the show only average. However, others, like one user who praised actor Clark Gregg, supported it, saying, “Well said! I really enjoyed SHIELD, and despite some issues with the final seasons, I still consider it part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
Canon Or Not, It’s Made An Impact

A frequent debate among Marvel fans centers on whether the TV show *Agents of SHIELD* fits into the official Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) timeline. One Reddit user pointed out that *SHIELD* never directly addressed the events of Thanos’ snap after its fifth season. While some argued this didn’t necessarily mean the snap *didn’t* happen within the show’s universe, others disagreed. Now, with the new series *Moon Knight* clearly intended as part of the MCU, and also making no mention of the snap, the user questions why the lack of mention is still held against *SHIELD*. It’s known that *Moon Knight* takes place after the “blip” (the return of those snapped away), as a billboard advertising the Global Repatriation Council is visible in the show.
During New York Comic Con, Chloe Bennet (who played Daisy Johnson/Quake) was asked about the Marvel Cinematic Universe revisiting storylines first explored in *Agents of SHIELD*. She confidently stated that her show did those stories better, considering the limitations of their budget and the time constraints they faced.
