Ahead of the Netflix Reboot, One of the Most Iconic ’70s TV Shows Is Streaming Totally Free

The current trend in television is the revival of old series, with various networks and streaming services aiming to cash in on viewers’ nostalgia for shows that originally aired years ago. Netflix, in particular, has excelled at resurrecting titles, offering subscribers a range of content from “Avatar: The Last Airbender” to “Fuller House”, and even announcing a reboot of “T.J. Hooker”. As Netflix gears up for the launch of a reboot of an iconic ’70s show, fans now have the opportunity to rewatch the original series for free.

The complete three-season run of the 1974 science fiction adventure series “Land of the Lost,” created by Sid and Marty Krofft, can be streamed for free on YouTube with ads. Originally airing on NBC from 1974 to 1976 for 43 episodes across three seasons, this show was a popular choice among Saturday morning viewers for an entire generation of kids, eventually earning cult status. Later on, CBS re-aired the series in the mid-80s, and ABC produced two new seasons starting in 1991. A feature film adaptation starring Will Ferrell came out in 2009, and rumors suggest that another remake is being planned for Netflix.

In my enthusiasm, I’d like to share that the captivating original series featured me, or rather, Wesley Eure, Kathy Coleman, and Spencer Milligan, as part of the Marshall family. I was Rick Marshall, a father figure, accompanied by my two adventurous children, Will and Holly. An unforeseen mishap during a rafting expedition, a plunge over a thundering waterfall, led us to an extraordinary realm. This realm was teeming with dinosaurs, exotic creatures, and fascinating beings resembling primates known as Pakuni. It was an exhilarating journey that transported us into a world beyond our wildest dreams!

Five decades later, the Krofft family is collaborating with Legendary Television to revive the “Land of the Lost” series. In June, it was disclosed that Netflix is exploring a reboot of the show, with the Kroffts serving as executive producers and Deanna Krofft Pope, Marty’s daughter, taking on the role of producer. At this stage, specifics about the planned revival are not available, and no writer has been assigned to the project yet.

Land of the Lost is available to stream for free on YouTube here.
