The upcoming second season of Ahsoka promises to be even more impressive, with significant improvements to its visuals. After nearly three years since the show first appeared on Disney+, Season 2 is scheduled for release later this year, following filming in the U.K. from April to October 2025. Fans can anticipate exciting developments, including a complete reunion with the Ghost Crew from Rebels and a more detailed look at Peridea, the new galaxy introduced in Season 1.
Morai the Messenger shared a sneak peek on X of the set for Ahsoka Season 2’s Peridea location. It’s significantly different from Season 1 – this time, Lucasfilm constructed blue screens around a large outdoor set in the U.K., rather than using the virtual production technology (the Volume) on indoor soundstages in Los Angeles.
I’ve been seeing some photos, and honestly, the set looks absolutely massive! Someone who’s seen it firsthand told me it’s truly huge, and you can get a sense of just how big it is from things like the van way in the background – it really puts the scale into perspective.
The Peridea set is much larger than I expected, even bigger than it appeared in the photos I’d seen before. Based on the size of the vehicle nearby, it’s absolutely massive.
The stunning Peridea sets in Ahsoka highlight the advantages Lucasfilm and Dave Filoni have gained by filming in the U.K. instead of on traditional sound stages in Los Angeles. Lucasfilm has chosen the U.K. as a filming location for several projects, including Andor and The Acolyte, while others, like The Mandalorian, have focused on using Volume technology for their visuals.
Industrial Light & Magic’s Volume stage uses advanced LED screens to surround the set, displaying realistic backgrounds instantly.
It makes sense that Season 2 of the show filmed its scenes on the planet Peridea in the U.K. The Ross-shire Journal reports that the landscapes of Peridea were largely created using footage of the Scottish Highlands displayed on a large video wall called The Volume.

The person who originally shared the photo suggested that the show might use different areas of this land throughout the series. One possibility is a camp for the Noti creatures we saw in Season 1.
There’s also another area behind where this picture was taken. I’ve heard from a few people that this land was divided into sections used for various scenes. They were often changed to look like either the Noti camp – I’ll explain more about that later – or a distant part of the planet.
As a big fan of The Mandalorian, I was really disappointed to hear about the behind-the-scenes issues with the spin-off. Apparently, moving production from the U.S. to the U.K. meant they had to recast one of the Nightsister actresses. It’s a shame, but it sounds like Disney just wasn’t willing to pay enough to cover her relocation costs, which is a real letdown.
Peridea’s Upgrade Is Good News for Ahsoka Season 2 & Lucasfilm Overall

The Volume, a new filmmaking technology, has sparked debate in Hollywood. Some believe it resulted in less-than-ideal visual effects in shows like The Mandalorian and the movie Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. Because of these concerns, Lucasfilm is moving away from using the Volume for the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu series and will likely use it less in Season 2 of Ahsoka.
The decision to use more practical effects hints that the new season of Ahsoka will rely less on CGI. It also strongly suggests that the planet Peridea will be central to the story, which makes sense considering much of the cast is currently filming there with no immediate plans to return.
Baylan Skoll will be central to uncovering a significant Force-related mystery on the planet Peridea, one that involves the ancient Mortis gods. It’s likely solving this mystery will be key to him and his allies finding a way back to the main galaxy to confront Grand Admiral Thrawn, as portrayed by Lars Mikkelsen.
