So, I just heard about this new game called Postal: Bullet Paradise. Basically, it’s like Vampire Survivors – you know, that ‘bullet heaven’ style where you’re swarmed by enemies – but built using the world and craziness of the Postal franchise. Sounds wild!
Unfortunately, the recently announced PS5 and PS4 game has been cancelled, and the news came just two days after it was first revealed.
The game received a strongly negative reaction from players, who were upset about how much it seemed to rely on AI-generated content.
For reference, here’s the announce trailer:
The video seems to use some artificial intelligence – particularly in the voice acting and the artwork shown outside of actual gameplay.
Originally, Running with Scissors was going to publish the game, which was being created by Goonswarm Games. However, due to strong negative feedback from the public, the publisher has now cancelled the project and is no longer involved.
Here’s the full statement from Running with Scissors founder, Vince Desi:
We recently announced POSTAL: Bullet Paradise, a game Running With Scissors intended to publish, but not create ourselves. The reaction from our POSTAL community has been strongly negative. Many believe parts of the game were made using AI, which they feel harms our brand and reputation. We value honesty with our community and have always been upfront. Because we’ve lost trust in the development team, we’ve cancelled the project. We have exciting things in the works, some of which you already know about, and some that are still a surprise.
Ever since I started Running With Scissors back in ’96, we’ve always believed our fans are a core part of what we do. Seriously, you guys are awesome! Our biggest goal is to make sure we deliver for the millions who love the POSTAL games. We’re incredibly thankful we get to make the kinds of games we want to play, and we’re already hard at work on some new stuff and updates that should be coming out in 2026 and beyond. I can’t wait to show you all what we’ve been working on!
Generative AI has become a hot topic, especially in game development. Recently, games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and ARC Raiders have faced criticism for using AI tools during their creation.
We’d like to hear your opinion on what happened. Do you think Running with Scissors made the right decision to end the game after the fan feedback? Share your thoughts in the comments!
