In simple terms, on January 14th, the team at Eliza Labs, who are responsible for ai16z, revealed their vision in a published white paper for AI agents designed to operate seamlessly within the structure of Web3, as stated by the Web3 AI project.
The twenty-page report outlines the AI16z’s AI agent toolkit, named Eliza. This innovative tool is designed to function as a versatile and harmonious infrastructure for effortlessly incorporating web3 applications within the capabilities of AI agents.
2024 saw the introduction of Eliza, a system engineered to facilitate AI agents who can process blockchain information such as reading, writing, and engaging with smart contracts, among other capabilities, according to the documentation.
In the long run, Eliza Labs aims to develop AI agents that can independently analyze data and execute trades within the Web3 environment, all on their own.
In my research, I’ve found that individual investors like myself are yearning for a tool to efficiently handle our investment portfolios and execute smart, well-informed transactions. This is based on the findings presented in our white paper.
These open-source AI agent operating systems like Eliza aim to make sophisticated AI capabilities more accessible, essentially lowering the hurdle for the ordinary public to get involved.
Rise of agentic AIs
2025 is anticipated to see significant changes in the Web3 landscape, as AI agents are predicted to reshape it. One of the earliest applications could be automated cryptocurrency trading.
Autonomous machines, driven by advanced objectives, are currently redefining the digital marketplace. They’re developing Web3 apps, issuing cryptocurrencies, and engaging humans on their own initiative.
By the year 2025, it’s anticipated that AI agents will assume greater significance in decentralized communities, as per J.D. Seraphine, the CEO of Raiinmaker, a leading Web3 AI developer, according to his statement to CryptoMoon.
As per December data, Web3 was home to around 10,000 artificial intelligence (AI) agents, together making millions weekly from on-chain activities, according to a VanEck report. The prediction is that this number could grow significantly, with over a million AI agents potentially inhabiting blockchain networks by the year 2025’s end.
AI token frenzy
By the year 2024, the total market value of AI-related tokens surpassed $10 billion, with a significant portion of this growth happening during the last quarter, as reported by CoinGecko.
Remarkably, the native token of the ai16z project, known as AI16Z, has shown exceptional growth since its debut in October. As per data from CoinGecko, it has managed to build a market capitalization close to $1.4 billion within this period.
AI16z presents itself on its website as the pioneering decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) overseen by artificial intelligence (AI) agents.
The Eliza operating system is responsible for running more than a dozen Web3 AI agents, as indicated by Elizaverse Observatory, which is a community-led monitoring platform.
