Alan Jackson Announces Last-Ever Concert Amid Health Battle

Alan Jackson is planning on going out with a good time.

The country singer announced he’s retiring from performing due to his ongoing struggle with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), a condition that causes nerves to deteriorate over time.

In a statement to *People* magazine on October 8th, Jackson said, “It’s been a challenging journey, and it’s led me to unexpected places.”

According to reports, the 66-year-old artist will conclude his touring career with a final concert, titled ‘Last Call: One More for the Road – The Finale,’ on June 27, 2026, at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. He’s especially pleased to be ending his tour in the city of Nashville, Tennessee.

He said there’s no better location for a grand performance and a final show for his fans than Nashville, and he’s excited to share it with many friends.

Jackson explained that they wanted to conclude their journey where it began for him: in Nashville, the heart of country music.

The artist behind “Gone Country” will perform with several special guests, including Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, and Keith Urban, along with many more. Bryan mentioned that it’s a privilege for all of them to be involved.

The *American Idol* judge shared on Instagram on October 8th that Alan Jackson’s music has been a big influence on them. They’re excited to attend Alan Jackson’s final concert, “Last Call: One More for the Road,” next year, as both artists are from Georgia.

This concert isn’t just a tribute to Jackson; it’s also a way for him to support CMT research. One dollar from each ticket sale will be donated to the CMT Research Foundation.

Although the singer of “Livin’ On Love” was diagnosed with the illness in 2011, he waited until 2021 to make it public.

He explained to *Today* that he has a hereditary neurological condition and neuropathy, which he inherited from his father.

Jackson added that there was “no cure for” the disease, which had been affecting him for years.

He admitted things were becoming increasingly noticeable, and he felt clumsy while performing. He’s also been having difficulty with his balance, even when standing at the microphone, which makes him feel uneasy.

But Jackson clarified that CMT is “not going to kill me.”

“It’s not deadly,” he said. “But it’s related [to] muscular dystrophy and Parkinson’s disease.”

Even with the challenges of CMT, the Grammy-winning artist has had time to think about his legacy and impact on music.

I’ve always felt the songs themselves are what matter most,” he said. “If I’m remembered for anything, I hope it’s for the music.”

Growing up, I was always told that periods were supposed to hurt – that pain was just something women had to deal with. It felt like I was supposed to suffer in silence, like so many of us are, with something that impacts half the population!

In July 2025, the actress from *Daisy Jones & The Six* revealed she was hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she’d been wearing pants that were too tight, which caused a gap in her abdominal muscles.

In a 2025 interview on the *In Depth With Graham Bensinger* podcast, Devine described the past year as a “nightmare.” He explained that he’s been experiencing spasms throughout his body and that doctors had even told him he was facing a life-threatening situation.

He acknowledged that his pain is intermittent, explaining that his body has some minor imperfections and doesn’t always function as expected.

Let me tell you, I recently had a really scary health experience. I ended up in the hospital because of some terrible back pain. It got so bad during a road trip with a friend that I literally had to crawl on my hands and knees to get help. It was a painful reminder to prioritize self-care, even when you’re having fun!

He described a strange tingling sensation that was still present in his legs as of March 2025, sharing this on his *Trading Secrets* podcast. He explained that just a few weeks or a month prior, he was able to squat 295 pounds, but now he couldn’t even do a squat without falling over, even on one foot. In an Instagram post, she explained that she was accidentally shot in the face by someone at a party who fired a gun unsafely. Thankfully, @thebrendanrooney quickly helped, checked her over, and took her to the hospital. She was hit five times, and one bullet narrowly missed her right eye by less than an inch.

Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE this! Apparently, a tiny piece of something got stuck *behind* my eye – can you even imagine?! The doctors say it’s way too dangerous to try and take it out with surgery right now, so they’re just going to keep checking on me. Thankfully, I can still see perfectly, which is a HUGE relief, but seriously, behind my eye?! It’s just…so *Ron Stoppable* of something to happen to me, right?

The actress expressed immense gratitude for surviving a frightening experience. Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its downsides, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier” and receiving negative comments online, doctors began commenting, expressing concern that she might have Cushing syndrome, a condition often linked to high cortisol levels or steroid use. This prompted Amy to realize she had been receiving steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section. She wouldn’t have known about the condition, Cushing syndrome, without the online attention. Amy recently shared that she’s relieved to learn her specific type of Cushing syndrome will resolve on its own and that she is healthy – the best possible news she could have received.

I was so worried when I heard about what happened to Tom Fitzgerald’s son back in December 2024. Thankfully, he fully recovered, and his dad, Tom Fitzgerald, shared with ESPN how relieved they were. He said they felt incredibly lucky and that he wouldn’t wish that experience on any parent, and honestly, I can’t imagine how scary that must have been for them.

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly developed stroke-like symptoms, struggling to speak and noticing her face drooping. Though the symptoms briefly subsided, she went to the hospital for evaluation. Doctors discovered she had a small blood clot in her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), often called a ‘mini-stroke.’ Further testing at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to travel to her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey has since undergone a successful procedure to close the hole in her heart and is now doing well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained that the virus affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on one side. He also shared that it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to eat.

Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on *Good Morning America* that Justin was recovering well, adding that while the situation was frightening and unexpected, he was going to be completely fine and she was thankful he was on the mend.

Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had initially kept private. In his 2024 Netflix special, *What Had Happened Was…*, he explained that he was suffering from a severe headache when he suddenly lost consciousness. He doesn’t remember the next twenty days.

Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. There, doctors discovered he had a brain bleed that led to a stroke.

After surgery, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying he needed them all.

The reality TV star shared that she briefly stopped breathing while running in the first challenge of the NBC competition show, describing the experience as feeling like ‘dying’.

She shared on the show *Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser* that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather before everything went dark. After that, she saw light, which led her to realize she had died that day.

Oh my god, she said her body was *actually* failing! Like, her organs were just giving up. Apparently, she had this thing called rhabdomyolysis, and she explained it like… it’s your body’s way of screaming, ‘I’m done!’ It’s terrifying to think about, honestly. I can’t even imagine what she went through!

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in *Game of Thrones*, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for *The New Yorker*. While filming the series, she experienced a sudden, severe headache at the gym, followed by intense pain and vomiting. She quickly realized something was seriously wrong with her brain.

After being taken to the hospital, doctors diagnosed her with a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a life-threatening stroke caused by bleeding in the space around the brain. She had suffered an aneurysm, a rupture in an artery.

Emilia underwent immediate surgery to repair the aneurysm, describing the pain as excruciating. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, making it difficult to speak, and often found herself speaking nonsense. Fortunately, the aphasia passed after a week, and she was discharged from the hospital after a month.

However, a 2013 brain scan revealed that the aneurysm had doubled in size, requiring a second surgery. This procedure initially failed, causing a massive bleed, and doctors warned her that another operation was necessary – this time requiring them to access her brain directly through her skull.

Thankfully, Emilia is now fully recovered and says she is “at a hundred per cent.”

Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, recently shared her gratitude for her family’s support after she suffered a stroke in January 2024. She immediately contacted them, sending a text message and a photo, and they quickly came to her aid, as she told TopMob News correspondent Will Marfuggi in December 2024. Cori ended up staying in the hospital longer than expected due to complications from lupus and kidney issues. Thankfully, Cori is now recovering well. While she had to work on regaining some motor skills, she says she’s doing great and is otherwise feeling fine.

As a wellness advocate, I’ve always believed in listening to your body, and Shailene Woodley’s story really resonates with that. She shared on a recent podcast that her early twenties were incredibly challenging health-wise. She was dealing with a constellation of issues – she actually lost hearing, couldn’t walk for more than a few minutes without needing to rest for hours, and experienced constant stomach pain. It was a really confusing time, with different doctors offering different diagnoses.

Because I’m a big believer in a holistic approach, I completely understand why Shailene, with her background in herbalism, wanted to explore all avenues. She sought guidance from both traditional doctors *and* independent healers, determined to find some comfort and answers. It wasn’t a quick fix, though – it was a ten-year journey of self-discovery and healing.

She explained how the physical discomfort led to a lot of emotional turmoil, including fear around food and struggles with body image and identity. It’s a powerful reminder that our physical and mental health are so interconnected. Thankfully, after a lot of work, Shailene is now in a great place. She’s physically healthy and feels so much happier, and that’s what truly matters!
