I remember when Alan Wake first came to PC in 2012 – it was a big hit! But even after all these years, Remedy hasn’t just given it a simple update. They’ve really gone above and beyond, making some major improvements and changes. It’s way more than just a visual refresh!
A new update for Alan Wake Remastered adds HDR support, making the game look even better on computers. Plus, players can now skip the tutorial if they’ve played before, allowing them to jump right into the action.
The game has been updated with better DLSS support, corrected field of view scaling, and improvements to buffering and rendering. Players with powerful systems can now also enjoy a frame rate cap of 240 FPS. These are significant changes for a game that first came out in 2021.
As if the remaster wasn’t exciting enough, I just learned that Filippo Tarpini – a Remedy graphics programmer who’s really into making HDR look amazing in games – actually worked on the HDR patch! That definitely gives me confidence it’s going to be fantastic. If you want to know what we thought of the game overall, you can check out our full review.
