MegaCon, a huge pop culture convention, wasn’t a smooth experience for some well-known celebrities like Alec Baldwin. Those who’ve sparked controversy in the past found it difficult to attract long lines and positive interactions with fans, unlike more beloved and approachable figures.
John Carpenter and Alec Baldwin had very different MegaCons…

I attended MegaCon this year and spent time on Friday, March 20th, visiting the areas where guests were signing autographs.
There were long lines to see celebrities like Mr. T, Sean Astin, Elijah Wood, and Jim Cummings. However, some booths didn’t seem to attract much interest. For the more famous guests who were hoping for a big crowd, the event might have been a surprising reminder of how well-known they actually are these days.

There were reports that some celebrity booths, like Alec Baldwin’s, used deceptive tactics to make it seem like there were longer lines than there actually were, to create the impression of high demand for a chance to meet him – the famous SNL host and star of movies like Beetlejuice.
Consider this video from his brother, where the fast camera movement appears to conceal the fact that a line in the background actually marks the property line next to the Baldwin family’s land.

That situation likely led to some dishonest activity, as it didn’t take much time or effort for people to pretend to be celebrities at certain places.

I was reading an update from “Alec Baldwin’s Finger” over at That Park Place, and apparently, Alec wasn’t drawing huge crowds on Saturday either. It sounds like things were pretty quiet for him.
He explained that they mistakenly joined the autograph line, believing it was where they could get photos taken. They arrived around 12:20 PM on Saturday and found about fifteen people ahead of them.
Megacon gets incredibly crowded on Saturdays, especially around 12:20 PM. So, it was surprising to see only fifteen people waiting to meet Baldwin.
If he spent around a minute with each fan, that would mean a fifteen-minute wait in line. However, some celebrities, like Orlando Bloom, apparently waited an hour or even longer. We’ve often seen similar long lines for guests like Gina Carano at conventions.

Meeting William Shatner on his 95th birthday was just… incredible! It felt like a really special moment. And it seems like fans have definitely been making their feelings known when it comes to certain celebrities who aren’t exactly known for being warm and fuzzy.
