Alex Duong is being remembered after his untimely passing.
Comedian and actor, known for roles in shows like Blue Bloods, The Young and the Restless, and Everybody Hates Chris, passed away on March 28th after fighting a rare cancer for a year. His friend, Hilarie Steele, shared the news on GoFundMe. He was 42 years old.
We are deeply saddened to share that Alex passed away peacefully this morning, surrounded by the love of friends and family. He was comfortable and no longer in pain, according to a post by Steele on the crowdfunding website.
Steele reported that Duong was able to say goodbye to his 5-year-old daughter, Everest, whom he shared with his wife, Christina, before he passed away. He deeply cherished his daughter, valuing every moment with her since her birth.
We’re heartbroken, but incredibly thankful for all the support, prayers, and kindness everyone has shown us during this difficult time.
In April, the Los Angeles Times published a profile detailing Duong’s diagnosis of alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and fast-growing cancer affecting soft tissues. This eventually resulted in the loss of vision in his left eye.

Before learning about his illness, Duong, a doorman at The Comedy Store, had planned a 41-state comedy tour for 2025. He was even scheduled to perform with Ronny Chieng, a correspondent from The Daily Show, at some shows. Duong often spoke about how much support he received from his fellow comedians as he dealt with his health challenges.
Oh my gosh, he gets it. He told the LA Times that comedians are just… there for each other when things are awful, and it’s the sweetest thing. He understands how much we all struggle and hustle, just to keep writing and getting better at making people laugh. It’s honestly so beautiful to see, especially in this crazy world. It just proves how special the comedy community is, you know?
