Alex Warren Calls Out Sommo Festival After Appearance Cancelation

Before you leave, Alex Warren would like to set the record straight.

The performer known as “The Ordinary” refuted claims that he pulled out of his scheduled appearance at the Sommo Festival in Prince Edward Island, Canada, to accept a more lucrative opportunity elsewhere.

Four weeks ago, he requested some time away from work. He explained in a video posted on September 4 that he is currently dealing with various issues. His entire year has been spent touring, his rehearsals fall on his birthday, and there are many other things happening. Therefore, he wanted to take a week off to visit a therapist.

Alex mentioned that he and his group had discussions with the festival organizers, along with the talk show producers where he was set to perform post-two-day concert (boasting main acts like Alanis Morissette and Hozier), regarding potentially cancelling his scheduled performance.

The 24-year-old clarified that he believed the situation was resolved, but later discovered that the cancellations hadn’t been made public – this was only brought to his attention after Sommo Festival’s statement suggesting his departure for another event. However, he clarified that this wasn’t true.

In easier terms, Alex admitted that the interaction between his team and the festival organizers wasn’t managed well. He then took responsibility and apologized for the confusion that ensued.

To P.E.I., he expressed his apologies, emphasizing that this wasn’t an excuse or a passing of responsibility to someone else.

The artist behind the song “Before You Leave Me” stated, “In truth, I hadn’t anticipated this happening. If I had known, I would have found another moment to create.

On September 3rd, in a now-deleted Instagram post, the organizers of Sommo Festival announced that Alex had to cancel his appearance due to a newly arranged scheduling issue.

Given that the festival is only a week away, it’s fair to say we’re faced with a challenging situation. We’re putting in every effort to finalize the lineup, and rest assured, you’ll hear from us as soon as we’ve got everything sorted.

Among the performers scheduled to take the stage are St. Paul & the Broken Bones, PVRIS, Michael Marcagi, Hollow Coves, and Alice Merton.
