Alien: Covenant Star Addresses Their Character’s Unexpected Fate Seven Years Later

As a dedicated fan who grew up with the chilling thrill of the original Alien movies, I find myself eagerly anticipating any and all developments within this timeless franchise. Katherine Waterston’s portrayal of Daniels in Alien: Covenant was a breath of fresh air, and her potential return to the series has me on the edge of my seat.

30 years after first terrifying audiences with the original “Alien” film, director Ridley Scott revisited the franchise in 2012 with the prequel “Prometheus,” followed by a sequel, “Alien: Covenant” in 2017. Although the latter movie hinted that Michael Fassbender’s character David had wicked intentions for his human counterparts, Katherine Waterston believes her character Daniels would have made it through their space voyage. Scott initially intended to create a sequel to “Covenant” to properly lead into the events of the original “Alien,” but this year’s “Alien: Romulus” and its success suggest that the franchise will focus on exploring the future instead of revisiting the past.

In an interview with Inverse, Waterston shared that he hopes Daniels managed to escape the pod, although he’s uncertain about it. He expressed his deep affection for the world portrayed in the film, and praised Ridley Scott as a visionary director and wonderful collaborator. If given the opportunity, he would like to work with him again, but even if he wasn’t part of the project, he’d still be eager to catch it at the cinema.

The Alien series is famous for its terrifying xenomorph creatures, but it’s important to note that the original film hinted at another significant danger: artificial life forms. In the movie Prometheus, the focus shifted from the xenomorphs to these synthetic beings, particularly the ominous character David, played by Noomi Rapace’s Shaw’s companion. At the end of Prometheus, Shaw and David journeyed into the unknown together, but Covenant revealed that David had actually murdered Shaw. This led viewers to believe that Shaw’s time was running out. However, in Covenant’s conclusion, David disguised himself as a synthetic named Walter to put Daniels into stasis and infect colonists with xenomorphs. Given this, many assumed that Daniels’ fate was sealed.

For nearly a decade now, fans have been curious about where these characters might end up, since creator Scott hasn’t shared much substantial info about the storyline with them.

The actor continued by saying, “Continue bringing David into the picture. He’s such an incredible character.” He further explained, “With each passing year, it seems like more and more people are drawn to Covenant. They approach me to discuss it… And as a fan myself, I share the same sentiment.

As a devoted fan and critic of the iconic ‘Alien’ series, I find myself eagerly anticipating the upcoming movie titled ‘Romulus.’ Set amidst the timeline between the chilling events of ‘Alien’ and the pulse-pounding action of ‘Aliens,’ this spinoff has sparked a wave of excitement among fans. The success it has achieved has even ignited discussions about a potential sequel in the works.

In simpler terms, “Covenant” is the ideal choice for a sequel as it ends with the girl inside a cryo pod and Michael Fassbender’s android character, David, possessing alien eggs and a group of 2000 colonists nearby. This setup provides an excellent starting point, according to Scott, who discussed this recently with The Hollywood Reporter.

Stay tuned for updates on the future of the Alien franchise.
