The future of Alien: Earth season 2 is now known. Following the season 1 finale on September 23rd, viewers have been eager to find out if the popular series would be renewed. With overwhelmingly positive reviews – earning a 94% “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes – the show, the first television installment in the Alien franchise, was lauded for its high production value and unique storytelling.
FX has announced that Alien: Earth will return for a second season, with production scheduled to begin in London in 2026. This news coincides with a new agreement between the show’s creator, Noah Hawley, and Disney Entertainment Television. Season 2 will be available to viewers in the U.S. on both FX and Hulu, and on Disney+ everywhere else. Below are comments from FX Chairman John Landgraf and Eric Schrier, President of Disney Television Studios & Global Original Television Strategy, regarding the renewal and Hawley’s new deal.
As a longtime observer of FX, I’ve always been impressed by their knack for finding exceptional talent, and Noah Hawley is a prime example. It’s been a pleasure watching his work blossom over the last decade, delivering some of their most successful and ambitious shows. What truly sets him apart is his constant ability to surprise and innovate, not just as a writer, but also as a director and producer who can truly bring a story to life. I’m particularly excited to see where he takes the next season of Alien: Earth, and I’ve heard whispers of some other incredibly promising projects they’re developing together. It’s a partnership that clearly works, and one I’m eager to follow.
I first noticed Noah’s exceptional talent when we collaborated on Fargo at FX. He’s since created some of television’s most acclaimed shows, and I’m thrilled he’s continuing his work with FX, now expanding to include Disney Entertainment Television.
Hawley also shared a statement expressing his thanks to FX for their support of his projects, starting with Fargo in 2014, and his enthusiasm for continuing work on Alien: Earth.
I’m really excited about this expanded agreement, as it creates new possibilities throughout Disney Entertainment Television. FX has always championed strong, character-focused stories, and they’ve consistently encouraged me to be creative and let the narrative guide us, starting with Fargo. I’m thankful to keep developing the story of Alien: Earth with our amazing team as we move forward.
