Rumors of a follow-up to the cooperative shooter *Aliens: Fireteam Elite* have been circulating since 2024, but there hadn’t been much news until recently. Gematsu noticed the game briefly appeared on the website of the ESRB, the organization that rates games for age appropriateness in the US. However, the listing has since been removed.
I just saw a screenshot from Gematsu, and it looks like *Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2* is getting a Mature 17+ rating! The ESRB listing warns about blood, gore, strong language, and plenty of violence – sounds like a proper *Aliens* game to me! Good news for us PC and console players, too – Daybreak Game Company is planning to release it on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
The game *Aliens: Fireteam Elite*, originally launched in 2021, was created by Iron Studios and published by Focus Entertainment. But for the next installment, different teams will be handling both the development and publishing.
We last heard about *Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2* in July 2024, when details from an internal document were shared on Reddit. This document, referring to the sequel as *Project Mocando*, suggested it would build on the original game by enhancing its gameplay, mood, and overall thrill.
According to an internal document, the game is planned to receive a new 8-12 hour co-op campaign for two players, alongside a game mode called Annihilation Mode. However, this information comes from early in development and may no longer be accurate.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a cooperative game for up to three players. Players team up to explore the planet LV-895, uncovering the mysteries hidden within its ancient ruins and caves. As a third-person shooter focused on survival, the game heavily relies on teamwork and coordination, particularly when facing waves of dangerous aliens and robotic enemies.
Okay, so in Aliens: Fireteam Elite, you’ve got seven different classes to pick from, which is awesome. The cool thing is, you can really customize how you play. You can level up a bunch of classes and try out different guns, or you can stick with one class and perfect your build. Speaking of guns, there’s a *ton* of firepower available – everything from basic pistols and revolvers to rapid-fire SMGs and even some serious rocket launchers. It’s great to have so many options!
The 2022 expansion, *Pathogen*, for *Aliens: Fireteam Elite* added new locations, maps, and a storyline where players investigate a strange disease that affects even the xenomorphs themselves. The expansion also introduced 8 new weapons, character upgrades, weapon customizations, and various cosmetic items to enhance gameplay.
You can play *Aliens: Fireteam Elite* on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. It’s also available on Nintendo Switch through the cloud. You can find our original review for more information about the game’s initial release.
Okay, so this is exciting! It looks like Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is actually happening! The ESRB just rated it, which is how we found out. It seems Daybreak Game Company is publishing this one, which is a bit different – Focus Entertainment handled publishing for the first game, so that’s a change!
