I had a blast watching it, honestly! But it was packed with characters – not just from the Mario universe, but from all over Nintendo’s history. There were so many cameos, and a lot of the characters felt like they were pulled straight from the Super Smash Bros. games, which was cool!
There aren’t currently any plans for a Super Smash Bros. movie, but with so many characters already featured in the film, it’s possible we could see one in the future. For now, fans will have to enjoy the characters’ appearances in this movie.
Mario Is a Given To Appear in His Own Movie
It wouldn’t be a Super Mario Galaxy Movie without Mario, and he clearly enjoys playing his part as a comfortable resident of the Mushroom Kingdom. This allows for plenty of fun characters – both familiar faces and new additions – to show up and add to the excitement.
As a long-time Mario fan, I have to say, this new movie really shows Mario at his best! He’s always been a strong character, but seeing him in action in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is just fantastic, especially if you’re a Super Smash Bros. player like me. Whether he’s battling Bowser Jr. or even a simple Goomba, it’s so much fun to watch him move and fight!
Luigi Shows Off Even More Moves
While Luigi is often seen as the more timid brother, he’s actually incredibly brave because he consistently confronts his fears. This is especially clear in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, where Luigi delivers some of the most exciting action sequences.
This moment really showed off Luigi’s impressive agility and strength when things got dangerous. His physical fitness also makes him a fantastic guardian of the Mushroom Kingdom. And, it means he’s ready for anything – even if a Super Smash Bros. movie ever happens!
Princess Peach Gets Her Signature Umbrella
The first Super Mario Bros. Movie showed us that Princess Peach is capable in a fight. However, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie really highlighted her skills, even giving her the iconic umbrella from Super Smash Bros., which she uses effectively throughout the film.
She doesn’t just use her weapon to battle enemies; she also uses it for playful actions like hitting a turnip and gently floating down – mirroring moves from the game. While a small detail, it significantly improved Peach’s character and made her even more impressive.
Rosalina Wields Incredible Power From the Start
Right from the start of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, it was clear Rosalina would be a powerful character. She quickly proves this by easily battling a giant robot controlled by Bowser Jr., giving viewers a great display of her abilities.
Okay, so this character is seriously impressive. She’s not just book smart and quick on her feet – what really sets her apart is that her fighting style feels earned, like it’s built on a real backstory we’re seeing unfold. Honestly, she’s quickly become one of the most powerful characters in the whole series, and you definitely don’t want to underestimate her.
Princess Daisy Literally Packs a Punch (But Only For a Moment)
Many fans were surprised when The Super Mario Galaxy Movie was announced and Rosalina appeared before Princess Daisy did. Fortunately, the movie’s post-credits scene confirmed Daisy will be included in the next film, and that she’s in capable hands.
Ukiki attempted to rob someone in the busy galactic hub, but was quickly knocked unconscious by a punch.
Yoshi Is a Standout in the Film
He’s not just adorable, but also hilarious and able to handle anything, just like his personality in Super Smash Bros.
Yoshi shows off all of his amazing abilities in the movie, like using his long tongue and turning enemies into eggs. But he’s more than just a cute companion – he’s a true friend with a lovable personality that makes you want to cheer him on.
Bowser Gets the Most Smash Bros. Moment in the Movie
I always figured Bowser would be back for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, but honestly, I was blown away by how much more compelling he was this time around! It turns out he just wants to be a good dad, and that surprisingly makes him really sympathetic. Don’t get me wrong, though – he’s still a seriously powerful villain!
Whether it’s Bowser or Dry Bowser, he remains a truly frightening opponent, and Mario faced a real challenge, even with a power-up. What stood out most was how the fight captured the spirit of a modern Super Smash Bros. movie, all within a short but thrilling encounter with a surprising character.
Bowser Jr. Is Deadly But Fun
He hit hard and created deadly paint weapons and monsters, including a dragon.
Despite being a villain, the character was entertaining and captivating to watch, even though he had less screen time. His attempts to please his father were touching and revealed a surprising depth to his personality.
Donkey Kong Wreaks Havoc in New York City
Seth Rogen wasn’t reprising his role as Donkey Kong in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, but the character still might make an appearance. We see Yoshi causing playful trouble as he runs around an incomplete skyscraper in New York City.
The brief appearance was a nice callback to the original film, and fans were delighted to see him again, as he was a standout character in the first one. Now, it seems inevitable that…
Fox McCloud Honors the Star Fox Legacy
Everyone was surprised to see Fox McCloud from Star Fox in the movie. Since he comes from a different world, it wasn’t obvious how he’d fit in, but he quickly explained things before starting his task.
Honestly, the movie really centered around Fox’s incredible flying abilities, and rightfully so! They hinted at what he could do outside the cockpit, but it was clear the film was all about his skills as a pilot. It definitely left me wanting more, and I’m really hoping we see him get his own project soon to explore that further.
