The DC Universe is just getting started. With only three projects released so far, and two of them centered around villains, it’s following a pattern similar to James Gunn’s previous work. Gunn is known for writing complex characters, like the Guardians of the Galaxy, who aren’t always heroes, which makes them compelling. But with the first DCU film, Superman, he’s starting to explore more traditionally heroic characters, like Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen, who consistently strive to do what’s right.
Let’s face it: regular reporters aren’t what draw big audiences. It’s the DC Universe’s superheroes who really capture people’s attention and keep things moving forward. While they’re dedicated to doing what’s right, these heroes aren’t afraid to take drastic measures when necessary. Here’s a ranking of all seven DCU superheroes, based on how dangerous they are.
7) Hawkgirl

While the DCU is often presented as being built on heroes who always do the right thing, the Justice Gang members are often self-motivated. Hawkgirl, in particular, is reluctant to help unless she feels like it – even when Superman needs assistance after being imprisoned by Lex Luthor. Regardless of her moral compass, she’s undeniably powerful, able to fly, and possesses a fierce, battle-ready nature. The fact that she’s ranked last on this list suggests the DCU is in capable hands.
6) Metamorpho

In Superman, Lex Luthor quickly demonstrates Metamorpho’s abilities, particularly his power to generate kryptonite, which temporarily holds Superman back and makes him appear unstoppable. However, Metamorpho’s biggest weakness is his strong compassion – both for his child and his unwavering desire to do what’s right. This lack of ruthlessness prevents him from ranking higher among DC’s powerful heroes.
5) Green Lantern

As a DC fan, I’m really intrigued by Guy Gardner. The guy’s got absolutely no shortage of confidence – he actually tried to fight Superman, convinced he could win! And honestly, it’s not a completely crazy idea. The Green Lantern ring can literally make anything you imagine real. But here’s the thing with Guy: he’s so cocky, it’s holding him back from truly tapping into that power. I think he’s got a lot of potential, especially with him learning from guys like Hal Jordan and John Stewart, but right now, he’s just not quite ready to be a main player.
4) Mister Terrific

I’ve always been amazed by how often intelligence triumphs over brute strength, and DC Comics is full of brilliant characters. Mister Terrific is definitely one of the smartest, and he still is in the new DCU! It’s incredible to see him take down hordes of enemies and then have the mental energy to close a world-ending wormhole. Seriously, you don’t get much more dangerous than that!
3) Batman

I’m still waiting to really see Batman in this new DC Universe! So far, he’s only shown up briefly in a flashback during Creature Commandos. But even though he’s been keeping to the shadows, I have a feeling he’s ready to jump into action whenever needed. Honestly, the villains should be worried, and I bet it won’t be long before the other heroes realize they need Batman and his skills to handle the really tough stuff. He’s Gotham’s protector, and I think he’s about to become everyone’s!
2) Supergirl

In the DC Universe, Kryptonians are incredibly powerful – the fact that Lex Luthor needs to clone Superman just to stand a chance proves it. But Luthor seems fixated on Superman and overlooks another threat: Supergirl. Though she only appears briefly in the Superman movie, she demonstrates impressive toughness when she withstands being thrown around by Krypto the Superdog. Anyone who gets in her way in the Supergirl series better be prepared for a fight!
1) Superman

Okay, so maybe this new Superman isn’t the strongest we’ve ever seen on screen, not yet anyway. But honestly, he’s still terrifying for any villain in the DCU! It’s not just about raw power with him – he’ll do absolutely anything to protect the people he cares about. Lex Luthor seriously needs to keep that in mind if he tries to mess with Superman again.
