All 7 Thunderbolts* Team Members, Ranked by Power

For quite some time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Avenger teams have appeared less potent on paper. At first, they were well-balanced, consisting of a god, an anger-prone beast, a super soldier, and a man in advanced tech attire with nearly unlimited capabilities. However, the team that followed this one at the end of “Avengers: Age of Ultron” seemed to lean too heavily on Vision and Scarlet Witch for the major tasks, which isn’t entirely fair. Still, it’s preferable to the Secret Avengers, a group that suffers from a lack of backup and has to make do with tattered clothing.

It seems that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is following a declining pattern by transforming the Thunderbolts into the New Avengers. But don’t be fooled, Earth’s most impressive superheroes remain formidable in the bigger picture. Here are all seven members of the Thunderbolts team, arranged according to their power level.

*Note: I have used “Thunderbolts” instead of “Thunderbolts” for a smoother reading experience.

7) Yelena Belova

If playing a game where sneaking and shooting people is required, Yelena Belova would undoubtedly come out on top. Regrettably, the Marvel Cinematic Universe encompasses various hazardous perils that a firearm cannot address, causing her to sink to the bottom. However, it’s important to note that while she may not be physically strong, Yelena excels in intelligence. It’s worth mentioning that Yelena seems to be leading the New Avengers as depicted during the post-credits scene of Thunderbolts.

6) Ghost

Just like Yelena, Ava Starr, also known as Ghost, is an assassin with a notable past. She joined S.H.I.E.L.D. following the tragic loss of her parents in a lab explosion when she was young. However, her unique qualities extend beyond this. Exposure to quantum energy grants her the ability to pass through objects, proving useful on many missions. Furthermore, Ghost’s strength appears to surpass that of an average human, as evident in her encounters with super soldiers.

5) Taskmaster

After an explosion, I find myself in less than ideal condition, sporting quite the rough exterior. Yet, my father remains undeterred, implanting a neural chip within me that enables me to replicate any combat style I encounter. To boost my capabilities further, he equips me with a suit granting increased strength and durability. Facing off against the formidable Black Widow calls for respect, despite the MCU’s questionable decision to end my character without giving me a fair chance to showcase my skills.

4) Red Guardian

Among the New Avenger’s super soldiers, Red Guardian might appear to be the most experienced due to Winter Soldier’s frequent freezing, yet he is the least potent compared to his peers. The Soviet Union’s enhancements granted him considerable strength, enabling him to handle substantial weights and deliver powerful blows. However, these modifications seem to have limited his overall capabilities, necessitating the intervention of other super soldiers during challenging situations.

3) Bucky Barnes

Through HYDRA’s experiments on him, Bucky transforms into an adept assassin, meticulously eliminating targets for decades. However, it was only when Steve Rogers, an old acquaintance, discovered his survival and need for aid that he managed to escape. Time has passed, but now Bucky is employing his abilities for righteous purposes. He’s almost as powerful as Steve, and anyone struck by his prosthetic arm will be left with a significant wound upon waking up.

2) John Walker

When John Walker, also known as Flag Smasher, experiences feelings of insufficiency, he resorts to consuming a potent super soldier serum that sets him apart as one of the strongest super soldiers within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The peak of his powers is showcased in the comic book series, Thunderbolts, during which he soars extraordinarily high above Valentina Allegra de Fontaine’s facility to get a better view of the situation.

1) Sentry

Whenever Sentry’s around, it’s tough to discuss the concept of super soldiers, as Bob Reynolds, after receiving his O.X.E. enhancement, is stronger than all the original Avengers put together. When other Thunderbolts attempt to teach him a lesson, they barely leave a scratch. It’s only by addressing Bob’s human side while the Void controls him that we can calm him down. Luckily, he’s part of the New Avengers, or else he might accidentally end the world in an instant.
