All 8 Episodes of Netflix’s One Piece Season 2, Ranked

The latest season of Netflix’s One Piece features eight new episodes, and it’s a clear improvement over the first. This season is more dynamic and well-executed in every way, finally delivering the exciting action fans were hoping for. It also builds on what made the first season good while adding fresh elements to make it even stronger.

Every episode of this season felt fresh and kept fans guessing with new surprises. While all the episodes of One Piece Season 2 were exciting and memorable, some were definitely better than others. Here’s our ranking, taking everything into account.

8) Episode 6 – Nami Deerest

Once the Straw Hats left Little Garden, they teamed up with Vivi and set sail for Alabasta. But when Nami suddenly became ill, they had to divert their course to find a doctor. This led them to the Drum Kingdom, a snowy land famous for its healers. Sadly, the kingdom was in disrepair, and the only hope for curing Nami was to reach a skilled doctor who lived high up in the mountains.

This episode builds tension as it delves into Vivi and her father’s complicated history, and their conflict with the Drum Kingdom’s king. We also see Smoker and Tashigi, and Luffy and Sanji finally reach the mountaintop to heal Nami. Plus, this episode introduces Tony Tony Chopper for the first time! While it’s a solid episode, others in the series are more captivating and memorable.

7) Epispde 5 – Wax On, Wax Off

This week’s episode, the fifth of the season, brings the Little Garden storyline to a close, as it’s one of two parts designed to finish that arc. Like many One Piece finales, it builds tension as the Straw Hats struggle with individual challenges before uniting to defeat their opponent.

David Dastmalchian’s portrayal of Mr. 3 is a definite highlight of the episode, perfectly capturing the character’s unique personality. The episode concludes with the Straw Hats triumphing over their enemies and bidding farewell to the giants, who deliver one of the most impressive attacks seen in the live-action series so far. It’s exactly the kind of satisfying One Piece story fans have been hoping for.

6) Episode 8 – Deer and Loathing in Drum Kingdom

The season ended with a lot of closure – everything that had been building up finally came to a head. I watched as the Straw Hats grew even closer, became stronger, and even welcomed a new friend to the crew. A big part of the finale revolved around Wapol returning to take back his kingdom, and the Straw Hats had to step up and confront him and his strangely mutated forces. It was also really cool to see Chopper really shine and show what he could do before officially joining the Straw Hats and setting off on his pirate adventure.

What really makes this episode stand out is how it cleverly prepares us for what’s coming next. It reveals the true villain driving the conflict in Alabasta and hints at the exciting events planned for Season 3 and the Alabasta storyline. Plus, a mention of Gol D. Roger and the mysterious “Will of the D” adds another layer of depth to the story. Overall, it’s a fantastic finale that leaves viewers eagerly anticipating what happens next.

5) Episode 4 – Big Trouble in Little Garden

After setting sail on the Grand Line, the Straw Hat crew arrives at Little Garden, a unique island where everything is incredibly large and two giants live. This adventure feels much bigger in scope than anything they’ve experienced so far, really showcasing the amazing and imaginative world of One Piece.

The best part of this episode is definitely Dorry and Brogy, who really show off their incredible size and the fighting spirit of their homeland, Elbaph. They inspire Usopp to keep chasing his dream of becoming a brave warrior. Plus, longtime One Piece fans will enjoy spotting hidden references, and the introduction of Baroque Works adds some exciting tension, making for a really fun episode.

4) Episode 2 – Good Whale Hunting

This season of One Piece really showcases how powerful its flashback storytelling can be, and Episode 2 is a great example. After the Straw Hats enter the Grand Line, they’re accidentally swallowed by a whale, leaving Luffy outside on his own. He’s determined to save his crew and, while trying to do so, learns about the whale, Laboon, and its history through a man named Crocus who cares for it.

This episode cleverly sets up future scenes with the Rumbar Pirates and Laboon, making those moments even more powerful when they happen. It also includes a neat hidden detail while showing Luffy comforting Laboon with a song. This continues to demonstrate how the live-action One Piece on Netflix is successfully building on the strongest parts of the original story.

3) Episode 3 – Whisky Business

In Episode 3, the Straw Hat pirates officially enter the Grand Line, arriving at Whiskey Peak island. There, they fall victim to a scheme by members of the Baroque Works organization who attempt to steal from them. Fans of the series particularly remember this episode for showcasing a powerful display of Zoro’s strength.

Zoro battles all one hundred of the Baroque Works agents, and the live-action series accurately portrays this challenging fight. We see him taking them on and winning, all while still being driven by Mihawk’s illusion. This makes for a particularly exciting and visually impressive episode, easily one of the season’s best action sequences.

2) Episode 1 – The Beginning and the End

The season begins with the Straw Hat crew making their last stop in the East Blue before heading to the Grand Line. Surprisingly, they arrive in Loguetown, the town where the legendary pirate Gol D. Roger was executed. The episode has several memorable scenes, including a great introduction for Zoro as he shops for a new sword, Luffy meeting Bartolomew, and the reappearance of Buggy and Alvida.

The live-action portrayal of Buggy is still fantastic, and the introduction of Smoker offers a fresh take on the Marines. The action sequences in this episode are a significant improvement over those in the first season. However, what really stands out are the numerous Easter eggs and clever story adjustments, making it a particularly engaging and surprising episode for dedicated fans.

1) Episode 7 – Reindeer Shames

Fans were eager to see how Tony Tony Chopper would be portrayed in this season of One Piece, and this episode delivered. By exploring Chopper’s past with Kureha, the show demonstrated both Netflix’s careful and thoughtful adaptation of the character and the powerful emotional depth that One Piece is known for.

Laboon’s story showed this season could deliver powerful emotional moments, and Episode 7 takes that to a new level, becoming a highlight of the series. Some viewers were concerned about how Chopper’s story would translate visually, but this episode successfully captures its emotional impact. With both a touching narrative and strong production, Episode 7 is easily the best episode of One Piece Season 2 on Netflix.
