All Creatures Great and Small’s Anna Madeley responds to surprising Siegfried moment – and teases relationship potential

Fans have long wondered if Siegfried and Mrs. Hall had a romantic connection in All Creatures Great and Small, and the rumors about them becoming a couple keep circulating.

This year’s Christmas special didn’t stop some viewers from thinking there’s a romantic connection between the two characters.

Because of the war, turkeys were hard to come by, and Mrs. Hall worried Christmas dinner at Skeldale House might not have one. Determined to secure a turkey, she focused all her energy on winning the local darts competition at The Drovers – and that meant lots of practice.

Siegfried’s attention was immediately diverted by the unexpected return of Dorothy (Maimie McCoy) to Darrowby.

I first saw her on the show way back in 2020, and I remember being so captivated when she and Siegfried shared a kiss as they became close. Then, she unexpectedly moved to Malta and stayed there for years. It was such a surprise to see her return to Yorkshire after the war finally ended – it’s wonderful to have her back!

Siegfried told his brother they were just friends, and his brother seemed to accept that explanation, so the matter was dropped.

But she has now returned — and Mrs Hall is “thrilled” to welcome her back.

I think it would be amazing if one of your closest friends unexpectedly showed up at your door.

Mrs. Hall is really looking forward to Dorothy’s arrival and hoping it will bring happiness to everyone. She’s embracing the potential for fun and positive feelings, and actively seeking out those good vibes right now.

But the same couldn’t be said for Siegfried…

Even though Dorothy expressed her desire to rebuild their connection, Siegfried mostly avoided her and threw himself into his work instead of talking to her openly – a typical response for him.

After a little push from Mrs. Hall and some good advice from Mrs. Stokes, he finally asked Dorothy to join him at The Drovers that evening. And, as expected, Mrs. Hall saved the day by making the winning shot, securing the turkey for everyone.

Everyone else was celebrating our win, really happy and enjoying the moment, but honestly, I noticed Siegfried was already getting lost in thought about Dorothy again. It’s like he can’t help but be drawn to her, even when we’ve just pulled off something amazing.

When they unexpectedly found themselves under the mistletoe, they shared another sweet kiss, just like before. Unfortunately, Mrs. Hall happened to see it, and her look seemed to suggest she wasn’t pleased.

Siegfried saw her glance up as he turned towards the noise, but she quickly looked away, clearly hoping to avoid an uncomfortable moment.

Was she simply disappointed that Siegfried wasn’t joining the victory celebration, or was she shocked by what she’d seen, considering he hadn’t even spoken to Dorothy earlier?

Or, more likely, was she preoccupied with something far more important?

I honestly don’t know,” she said. “It’s impossible to say how things will turn out, or where this will lead us, so I can’t really answer that.

It seems like she’s so focused on winning the darts game that when she turns to celebrate, she realizes Mr. Farnon isn’t where she expected him to be.

It’s hard to say exactly how they’re reacting. I think it’s mostly the shock of the moment. It takes time to process things, and to understand what they mean. It’s a special time, with the excitement of Christmas and people focusing on their families and those they care about.

Is Madeley wondering if Mrs. Hall would approve of Siegfried and Dorothy becoming a couple?

She said she could tell they connected well. It reminded her of Tristan and Charlotte – she believes this woman is exactly what he needs, especially after everything he’s been through. She emphasized the importance of appreciating any happiness or positive feelings they find, because they’ve both had a difficult time recently, and it’s crucial to hold onto those good moments.

What if Siegfried and Mrs. Hall became romantically involved? Does Madeley believe they’d be a good couple?

She explained that starting work would be a significant change for everyone. People came from very different backgrounds, and the fact that Mrs. Hall already worked for Mr. Farnon meant there would be a lot to get used to.

In that community, divorce would be a significant event. Mrs. Hall’s divorce is noteworthy, especially considering both she and her husband have had previous long-term relationships. They’ve both grown and changed, and now likely approach relationships differently than they did when they were younger.

She described the situation as wonderfully complex, noting a strong emotional connection but uncertainty about where that connection would lead.
