All Creatures’ Tristan and Carmody endure awkward first meeting in teaser

As a fan who has been following the lives of the characters in All Creatures Great and Small, I must say that the tension between Tristan (Callum Woodhouse) and Carmody (James Anthony-Rose) in episode 4 is palpable! The war-weary Tristan, with his cheerful demeanor concealing the horrors he’s witnessed overseas, is a stark contrast to the no-nonsense, workaholic Carmody.

In episode 4 of All Creatures Great and Small, Tristan (played by Callum Woodhouse) and Carmody (portrayed by James Anthony-Rose) meet each other for the first time. It’s clear their personalities don’t blend harmoniously, to put it mildly.

As a cinephile, I find myself reflecting on a recent movie scene where the rebellious sibling of Siegfried returns home after serving in the war. This brother, who now sports a cheerful facade, leaves me questioning whether it truly conceals the unspeakable atrocities he experienced abroad, as Woodhouse subtly hints.

Unfortunately, Carmody won’t provide any distractions for him, as he turned down Tristan’s invitation to the local pub and chooses to brush off his friendly overtures. Instead, he prefers to engage in bacterial experiments. Everyone has their preferences!

The icing on the cake of an already spoiled dessert is that Tristan and Carmody are going to have to share a room during their visit to Siegfried’s house. This probably means there will be even more uncomfortable moments between them in the future.

Take a look at the video up there for the whole sequence. Tune in to Channel 5 at 9pm this coming Thursday, 10th October, to catch All Creatures Great and Small episode 4.

Before the new season premiere of All Creatures Great and Small, Woodhouse hinted that Tristan seems to be facing troubles, contrary to how he appears on the surface.

He’s clearly undergone a transformation, one that I can’t fully grasp,” he clarified. “It seems like he’s been through some traumatic experiences he’s choosing not to share. He’s hiding behind alcohol and joviality, which is evident.

The actor noted that Tristan invests a great deal of energy into finding peace, while Carmody, he said, is more like a finely-tuned instrument.

He dedicates considerable effort to his tasks, likely unwinding through additional intense activities – such as preparing for these exams or any other challenging task.
