Highguard is a game that’s quickly become popular thanks to its strategic gameplay, exciting battles, and diverse cast of heroes. Each match is unpredictable, and choosing the right heroes for your team is crucial. With so many options available, it’s not always easy to determine which heroes are the most effective.
Okay, so I’ve been playing a lot of Highguard, and I wanted to break down all the heroes for you. I’m ranking them based on how well they can adapt to different situations throughout a match – basically, how useful they are overall. For each hero, I’ll quickly cover what they’re good at, where they struggle, and when you’ll really want to pick them. This isn’t about making a strict ‘best to worst’ list, but it will give you a good idea of who’s strong as you’re learning the game and help you pick the right hero for the job.
8. Atticus

Atticus is a simple, powerful hero designed for direct combat. He’s good at both dealing damage and subtly controlling the flow of battle. His primary attack launches an electric spear that continuously damages nearby enemies, creating a small area where they’ll take damage over time. Every time he hits an enemy with this spear, he builds up power for his axe throw, turning it into a devastating electric explosion that deals significant damage to enemies and even structures over a large radius.
Atticus’s special ability lets him jump high into the air and strike enemies below with powerful spears, damaging groups and even breaking down walls. He’s a straightforward and effective hero overall. While he doesn’t excel at blocking off areas, his versatility makes him a dependable pick for players who want steady damage and some control over the battlefield.
7. Slade

Slade is a hero who excels in combat, much like Atticus, but he controls the battlefield differently. Instead of direct attacks, Slade focuses on creating dangerous areas that enemies will try to avoid, all while dealing substantial damage. His primary attack is a powerful wave of fire that travels in a line, and his passive ability replaces standard grenades with firebombs, leaving behind pools of lava on the ground.
Slade’s strongest ability is his ultimate, which creates a large firestorm that covers a wide area. This forces opponents to either move away or suffer significant damage. Because of this, Slade excels at controlling team battles, making him a great choice for players who want to win by strategically positioning themselves and dominating the battlefield with area control.
6. Kai

I main Kai, and let me tell you, he’s all about defense. I’m basically a bodyguard for my team and really good at controlling where everyone can go on the map. His big thing is summoning this huge ice wall – I can even move it around while it’s up, which is awesome for cutting off enemies or creating safe paths. Plus, his passive is insane! Whenever my walls get destroyed, he automatically replaces them with more ice, so I’m constantly patching up defenses without having to spend any resources. It’s a game changer!
Kai’s ultimate ability turns him into a huge, powerful ice demon. This form can withstand a lot of damage and adds an extra ice shield for even greater defense. While he’s slower in this form, his ability to protect himself is significant. Kai is perfect for players who like to focus on defense and control the battlefield. Combining him with items like the Hammer, which creates rock walls, makes him an incredibly effective hero for blocking off areas and controlling space in Highguard.
5. Redmane

Redmane excels at quickly moving around the map and destroying enemy structures. His signature ability allows him to leap great distances – he has three jumps available at a time, giving him superior vertical mobility. A quick press of the ability lets him attack nearby enemies or cling to walls for additional damage, making it useful for both attacking and navigating. He starts with these three charges, so he can use this ability frequently.
Redmane gains increased movement and reload speed after each enemy kill, which is helpful if he’s actively getting kills. His ultimate ability is a strong, long-range roar that quickly destroys walls. If you like fast-paced gameplay and breaking down enemy defenses, Redmane is a great choice.
4. Una

Una is a hero who excels at defense, using summoned creatures to dominate the battlefield. Her primary ability allows her to summon up to three imps that throw bombs at enemies, dealing moderate damage and creating space. Strategically positioning these imps is important, as they can be defeated, but her unique ability lets her gain extra rewards from them, providing a slight advantage.
Una’s strongest ability is a powerful summon that brings forth a large, tree-like spirit. This spirit attacks enemies with explosive projectiles, dealing heavy damage and even potentially destroying buildings. In general, Una is a great hero for players who prefer to control areas over time and rely on summoned creatures. While how well it works can depend on how the spirit targets enemies, Una is still a reliable defensive character, allowing you to dominate the battlefield from afar.
3. Condor

Condor is a special hero focused on finding and tracking enemies. She always has a bird companion that helps her gather information, but it doesn’t fight battles directly. Even when she’s not actively using abilities, the bird alerts her to nearby enemies, giving her team a significant edge – knowing where the enemy is can be crucial for winning.
Condor is a hero who specializes in gathering intelligence. She can scan wide areas to pinpoint enemy positions for herself and her teammates. Her ultimate ability allows players to briefly control a bird, deploying up to three smoke clouds. These clouds hide areas from the enemy, but simultaneously reveal any enemies inside to Condor’s team. In essence, Condor is all about providing information, making her a valuable asset for players who are skilled at tracking enemies and sharing that intel in Highguard.
2. Mara

Mara is a strong support hero in Highguard. She excels at protecting her team by summoning orbs that give them extra shields during battles. She can also speed up her ultimate ability by collecting energy from defeated enemies, ensuring she consistently provides support throughout a match.
Mara’s ultimate ability is considered one of the most powerful in the game, as it creates a central location where her whole team can regroup and fight. This can completely change a battle’s outcome, depending on when it’s used. Mara is a very flexible character, providing both defensive support and ways to keep her team alive, along with that game-changing ultimate. This makes her a top choice in Highguard for players who want to be involved in every aspect of the game.
1. Scarlet

Scarlet is a remarkably strong hero in Highguard, known for her ability to dramatically change the course of team battles. Her unique skill lets her temporarily create safe paths by turning walls into barriers without damaging them. This is especially useful during raid attacks and gives her incredible defensive capabilities, letting her escape from seemingly impossible situations. Her ability to manipulate the battlefield also allows for amazing teamwork and strategic plays with her allies.
Scarlet’s signature ability lets her blend into her surroundings with sand, effectively hiding her from enemies unless they’re very close. This makes her excellent at surprising opponents and thriving in quick battles, especially when using weapons at close range. Her ultimate attack involves throwing powerful knives that inflict significant damage. If she defeats an enemy with a knife, all her abilities recharge instantly, making her incredibly difficult to defeat in longer fights. In short, Scarlet is a well-rounded character who can attack, defend, and adapt to almost any situation, giving her an advantage throughout the game.
