The shocking events of Avengers: Infinity War deeply affect the Avengers. While some, like Thor, struggle with grief and turn to unhealthy habits, Tony Stark chooses to focus on his family. He and Pepper Potts start a family with their daughter, Morgan, and enjoy a peaceful life together. However, when the Avengers discover a chance to undo the damage, Tony joins the fight and tragically sacrifices himself to save Earth.
Captain America, or Steve Rogers, chose to retire and enjoy a life with Peggy Carter in an alternate reality, believing that’s what his friend Tony Stark would have wanted. He seemed content, even appearing as an elderly man to pass the Captain America shield to Sam Wilson. However, a recent preview for the upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, suggests Steve has one last fight left in him. This battle isn’t just for his teammates and the safety of the multiverse, but also to protect his child. Here’s a look at all of Steve Rogers’ children in the Marvel Universe, and how likely they are to appear in Doomsday.
6) Red Skull

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) often takes inspiration from the Ultimate Universe comics, but the storyline involving Captain America’s son is likely a departure. In the comics, after being revived in the present day, Steve Rogers discovers his former girlfriend had a son the government attempted to transform into a super-soldier. This experiment failed, and the son became a villain known as the Red Skull, responsible for multiple deaths. The Avengers ultimately fought and defeated him. While the MCU isn’t afraid of tragic stories, it has crafted its own unique version of the Captain America and Red Skull conflict.
5) Sarah Rogers

Similar to the Disney+ show What If…?, the What If…? comic books explore alternate storylines that wouldn’t fit into the main Marvel Universe. One example features Rogue and Captain America having a daughter, Sarah Rogers, who becomes the hero Crusader. Like her parents, she fights against villains, including the son of Doctor Doom. While it would be great to see Rogue’s story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sarah Rogers likely won’t be part of the upcoming Doomsday event.
4) Ellie Rogers

Before Steve Rogers considered getting back together with Peggy Carter, he briefly dated her niece, Sharon Carter. However, the relationship didn’t last. In the comics, particularly during the ‘Hail Hydra’ storyline connected to the 2015 ‘Secret Wars’ event, a character named Ellie Rogers is introduced. She’s a resistance fighter working to defeat Hydra, and she partners with a character connected to Armin Zola to improve the world. Ellie shares Steve’s strong sense of justice, but the character doesn’t quite fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
3) Steven Rogers Jr./Nickie Rogers

The story “What If Sharon Carter Had Not Died” explores a timeline where Captain America and Sharon Carter build a life together and have two children, Steven Rogers Jr. and Nickie Rogers, who are named in honor of Nick Fury. As Captain America ages, his family worries about him and asks him to retire, but he continues to fight crime, especially when the Red Skull returns. While Steven and Nickie aren’t fully developed characters, the story’s portrayal of their strained relationship with their father could be a compelling idea for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to explore.
2) James Rogers

Steve Rogers has a son, James Rogers, not just in the comics, but also in the animated movie Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow. Though Ultron tragically kills Cap and Black Widow, James survives and joins forces with other young heroes to save the world. With several children already established in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who could potentially become Avengers, James Rogers would fit right in during a future Doomsday event.
1) Sharon Rogers

Peggy and Steve Rogers have one daughter, Sharon, who seems destined for great things – even challenges as big as ‘Doomsday.’ After decades of protecting the world, her parents eventually step down, and Sharon steps up. She becomes the new Captain America in the Marvel Future Fight game, using her abilities to fight various enemies. Sharon could be a great addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and she already has a striking costume and powerful weapons – even better than her father’s.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
