Truth is, no one can do what Miranda Priestly does—except maybe Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep.
As the costars of Devil Wears Prada 2 began promoting the movie on the red carpet before its May 1st release, they really stepped up their fashion game.
Meryl Streep, known for her role as Miranda in Runway, kicked off a trip in Mexico City on March 30th with a striking all-red suit by Dolce & Gabbana. She started at La Casa Azul, the home of Frida Kahlo, and the suit featured a satin bow at the neck.
The Oscar winner’s outfit was styled by Michaela Erlanger and finished with coordinating shoes and a unique clutch shaped like a book – a custom creation from Olympia Le-Tan inspired by The Devil Wears Prada.
Anne Hathaway, known for her role as Andy Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada, was at the event wearing a black outfit. It had a large golden eye detail on the front and fringe around the neckline.
Stylist Erin Walsh shared that the outfit was carefully chosen with a specific theme in mind, drawing inspiration from the event’s location and featuring a distinctly surreal and artistic style reminiscent of Schiaparelli.
She explained in an Instagram video posted on March 31st that the project blends art and fashion. She described it as a fun and purposeful combination of both, saying it was ‘a little bit of art, a little bit of fashion, a lot of fun and a lot of intention.’
Anne’s clothing choices in the film aren’t just for show; they reflect both the story and the places the actors are promoting it. Similarly, what her character wears visually represents the world around her.

Everyone wants stories to feel realistic and earned, not just rely on viewers suspending disbelief,” Anne explained to Zuri Hall on Fandango’s Big Ticket Podcast in March. “That’s why we put a lot of thought into the details. For example, Andy’s wardrobe was inspired by someone who actually worked at Runway magazine in their twenties, and her background included a job that involved international travel and access to consignment shops.”
As one person from The Idea of You put it, Andy seems to perfectly balance being down-to-earth and glamorous. She always looks great, and her style is clearly well-thought-out and luxurious.
