Truxton first released in arcades in 1988, a month after this author was born.
Although a sequel came out in 1992, Truxton Extreme is the first completely new game in the series in many years.
Great news! The game will be released on July 30th for the PS5. You can download a digital version from the PS Store for $24.99, or pre-order a physical copy from Clear River’s website for $49.99.
Truxton was created by Masahiro Yuge, a classically trained pianist. This background gave the game a distinctive design and a natural rhythm, especially noticeable in its bullet patterns.
Yuge is back with his studio, Tatsujin, and has composed an entirely new soundtrack for this release.
The complete game will include a classic arcade mode with shooting action, plus a story mode told through animated cutscenes inspired by manga.
You’ll also be able to play the entire game with a friend in co-op mode, letting you team up and share the action.
Here’s a summary from the press release:
Truxton Extreme is a fast-paced shooter game that’s fun for both experienced players and newcomers. Blast away waves of alien enemies using powerful weapons like the Power Shot, Truxton Beam, Thunder Laser, and Homing Shot. Just remember to stay calm when facing massive bosses – the fate of humanity depends on you!
