James Gunn and Peter Safran are successfully guiding the DC Universe, and 2025 was a great example of that. Fans enjoyed the new Superman movie, which gave the character a fresh start and introduced a new generation to DC heroes. Plus, Season 2 of Peacemaker kept fans excited for what’s coming next. The momentum continues in 2026 with the arrival of Lanterns on HBO, a solo Supergirl movie, and a Clayface film. Looking ahead, the future of the DCU is looking very promising, with even more projects already in development.
DC Studios recently revealed plans for an animated TV series based on the character Mister Miracle, a big surprise for fans. The show, coming to HBO Max, will be based on the critically acclaimed comic book series of the same name by Tom King and Mitch Gerads. Tom King is leading the development of the series and shared some news about its progress, including a planned change to the story.
Tom King Confirms Mister Miracle Series Will “Fix” Comic Error

I was listening to the Comic Geek Speak podcast, and Tom King shared some really exciting updates on the Mister Miracle adaptation. He’s deep into the final stages of a massive writing project, and he’s personally writing every episode – on top of being the showrunner, which is a huge job in itself! They’re currently casting actors and working on the visual design for the series. What’s really fascinating is that adapting the comic has actually uncovered a continuity error – something nobody had spotted in the original run, even though it’s been out since 2017. It’s wild to think something like that can slip through the cracks!
Going back to Mister Miracle, a story I wrote nearly ten years ago, is strange. I was in a really anxious and unsettled state of mind when I created it. It’s mostly a good story, but revisiting it also means seeing what doesn’t quite work. An editor actually pointed out a mistake today – a small plot hole. It was surprising because people had been reading it for ten years and hadn’t caught it. I jokingly told someone in Hollywood they’d just ‘won a no prize’ for not noticing, and they were understandably confused and a little upset.
King shared that he once had to explain the idea behind Marvel’s “No-Prize” – a funny award Stan Lee would send to fans who caught mistakes or inconsistencies in the comics.
He explained that people were surprised he’d sent empty envelopes that others actually wanted. He clarified, ‘They don’t get it. As a child, receiving something – anything – was my biggest wish.’
King never specified what error he made, and since readers haven’t discovered it despite the series’ success, it’s possible it will remain a mystery until the show airs. However, fans of Mister Miracle are excited for the adaptation and will likely be keen to spot this alteration, if it’s even something you can notice.
