Alysa Liu Reveals Future Plans After Winning 2026 Olympic Gold Medal

Alysa Liu is skating into a bright future.

Only days after winning gold at the 2026 Milano Cortina Games – the first American woman to earn a medal in the free skate event since 2006 – the figure skater shared that her artistic talent extends beyond her unique hairstyle and unconventional music selections.

The athlete mentioned she’s planning to follow her dream of becoming a designer once she gets back from Italy.

Okay, so I just had to share what Alysa told TopMob News – it’s amazing! She’s bursting with new work she can’t wait to release, and seriously, the ideas she has are incredible. She’s totally passionate about fashion – it’s how she really is herself, and she wants everyone to know her story, her life. She’s a storyteller at heart, and she loves hearing what everyone else has to say too. I just get so excited thinking about everything she’s going to create!

The 20-year-old skater, who also won a team gold medal at the Olympics with Ilia Malinin, hopes to inspire other figure skaters—and everyone else—to express their own creativity.

She went on to say that people need to feel free to be themselves. It means a lot to her that others find inspiration in her to express their individuality, and she believes that everyone defines success in their own way.

Alysa truly began to embrace who she was after retiring from her sport in 2022.

I used to lack self-confidence and didn’t believe I could take risks,” she said. “That changed when I stopped playing sports at age 16. It was the first time I made a truly independent decision, and it had a ripple effect on my sense of self and authenticity.

After returning to work in 2024, she explained that she feels much more fulfilled and self-assured, saying, “I’m finally doing what I truly want.”

I’m so impressed with how seriously Alysa takes her preparation, and it’s not just about what happens on the ice! She understands that feeling confident in all areas of her life is key, and that’s why I was thrilled to see her team up with Gillette Venus, the official razor of Team USA and the Milano Cortina Games. It just shows how dedicated she is to being her best, inside and outside the rink!

She told TopMob she’s very particular about razors, and this one is her favorite. She uses it as part of her pre-competition routine on her skates, and appreciates that it doesn’t dry out her skin. She considers it a high-quality razor.

Alysa is returning to the U.S. after becoming a popular Olympian, and while she’s excited, she hopes things won’t be too different from when she left.

She explained that she wants things to stay as normal as possible. “I really value my peaceful life and don’t want to disrupt it,” she said. “I’m going to do my best to keep things calm and avoid unnecessary chaos.”

Plus, she is excited to get back to practice and plan for future competitions.

As a stylist, I’m always envisioning complete looks for my clients, and that definitely extends to dresses – I see a lot more of them in the future! What I really love is creating full experiences – pairing the perfect outfit with hair, music, and even choreography. It’s a challenge, truly an art form, but it’s something I’m passionate about bringing to life.
