Amazon MGM Studios has been actively developing a variety of TV shows. With hits like Fallout and Invincible already performing well this year, the studio is now gearing up for its next big franchise: an adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’s popular Fourth Wing book series. Details have been scarce recently, but a major casting announcement has just been made that fans will be excited about.
Michael B. Jordan’s production company, Outlier Society, is working on a TV adaptation of Fourth Wing, and Jordan has shared some encouraging news. In a recent BBC interview, he explained that casting is underway, but assured fans they’re avoiding predictable or cliché choices. He wants the cast to feel authentic and genuine.
Jordan plans to use both new and established actors, aiming for a cast that doesn’t overshadow the story. They believe a good balance allows audiences to connect with characters freely, without preconceived notions based on who’s playing them. Jordan explained that this approach lets viewers form their own emotional connection to the characters without being influenced by an actor’s past roles or reputation.
Fourth Wing Has Big Franchise Potential For Prime Video

Amazon’s Prime Video is very excited about this series, which is why they acquired the rights to the Empyrean book series in 2023. At the time, only the first book was available, but the author has since released two more: Iron Flame and Onyx Storm (released last year). With two books still to come, completing the five-book series, the TV adaptation will likely premiere around the time the fourth book is published.
With its blend of fantasy and romance, this series has a lot of promise and is a great addition to Prime Video’s growing collection. The story centers around Violet Sorrengail, a 20-year-old who prefers reading and studying history. So, everyone is surprised when her mother, a general, orders her to join the highly selective Dragon Riders.
Violet faces more than just new goals. She needs to quickly adapt to the intense competition among the Dragon Riders and deal with the enemies they – and especially her mother – have accumulated over time. To survive, she’ll have to use every advantage she can, unaware of the hidden potential she already possesses.
Violet is not only capable of overcoming her difficult situation, but she also possesses unique abilities, like forming connections with several dragons. Finding the right actress to play Violet is crucial, but Jordan’s team appears to have a strong plan, and if everything works out, Prime Video could have its next big hit series.
Fourth Wing has no release date, but we’ll keep you posted on when one is revealed.
