After a 12-year hiatus, American Dad! is returning to Fox. Fans are getting a sneak peek with a brand-new trailer. The show had a successful run on TBS, lasting longer than its original stint on Fox, and was one of the last original animated series to air on the network. Now, American Dad! is back where it started.
Fans of American Dad! will be happy to hear it’s coming back to Fox this February! The show is part of Fox’s 2026 winter lineup, alongside new episodes of Universal Basic Guys and Family Guy. Fox recently shared a trailer announcing the return of American Dad and other Animation Domination favorites, promising more episodes for a long time to come. You can watch the trailer below.
When Does American Dad Return to Fox?
I’m excited to share that American Dad is returning to Fox with new episodes on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at 9:00 PM ET. And if you miss it on TV, you’ll be able to stream it on Hulu the very next day! This is a big deal because it’s the first time the show has been on Fox in twelve years. Even better, Fox has renewed the series for four whole seasons, showing a real commitment to bringing American Dad back and keeping it around for a while. Considering how well the show has done on TBS and Hulu, it feels like a really smart move.
I’ve noticed a huge difference in American Dad since it moved to TBS! While some longtime fans might have drifted away, the show’s actually become way more popular, and it feels like it really found its groove. There’s a totally new creative energy now that makes it feel different than the old Fox seasons. Honestly, I’m a little worried they won’t keep that magic when it goes back to Fox – it’s become such a changed show, I hope the original fans appreciate how much it’s evolved!
What’s New For American Dad in 2026?
When American Dad! returns to Fox, the show will hit a major milestone: its 400th episode! The new season promises a fun storyline where Stan finds himself facing off against… another Stan, thanks to some typical CIA trouble. As fans know, episodes involving Stan and his doppelgängers are always hilarious.
The creators of American Dad! have previously said they’re glad to continue making the show, even after it moved from TBS, and fans are relieved it hasn’t been canceled. Now, everyone is waiting to see how the show performs when it returns to Fox next February.
