Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story started in 2011 as a surprisingly scary show that quickly gained a following. Initially, the first episodes were simply known as the story unfolding, but the series evolved to feature a completely new and terrifying storyline each season. Currently filming its thirteenth season, the show has given us memorable and frightening seasons like Asylum, Freak Show, and Apocalypse. While the next season’s title hasn’t been revealed, recent images confirm the return of some beloved characters.
Jessica Lange is officially joining Season 13 of the show, as confirmed by creator Ryan Murphy who shared a recent photo of her. Fans immediately started guessing whether she’d be playing a brand new character or one from a previous season, based on her clothing in the photo. Today, Murphy shared another photo, this time featuring Sarah Paulson, and revealed she will be returning as Cordelia Goode, a character she originally played in Season 3, ‘Coven’.
Murphy captioned the photo:
AHS 13
The Return of @mssarahcatharinepaulson as Cordelia Goode.
The Supreme Rises.
And yes we have rebuilt the entire Robichaux Academy.
Coming this September.
Jessica Lange was a main cast member for the first four seasons of the show, winning an Emmy for her performances in “Murder House” and “Coven,” but she hasn’t appeared much since, aside from a guest spot in Season 8, “Apocalypse.” Sarah Paulson has been in nine out of the twelve seasons, missing only “1984,” “NYC,” and “Delicate.” Both actresses were in “Coven,” but currently, only Paulson is confirmed to return to that storyline.

Murphy posted a picture of Jessica Lange, and while he didn’t say what part she’ll play, her clothing suggests she might reprise her role as Constance Langdon from “Murder House.” But since some actors play multiple characters each season, it’s unclear exactly how Lange will fit into the story. Joining Lange and Sarah Paulson in Season 13 are Ariana Grande, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, and Leslie Grossman.
One of the things that makes American Horror Story so captivating is its diverse range of seasons – everyone can find one that truly resonates with their preferred type of horror. Ryan Murphy has explored everything from classic slashers and creepy circuses to haunted hotels and mysterious disappearances in rural areas. However, many fans consider Season 3, Coven, to be a high point of the series. By that point, Murphy had really hit his stride creatively and was brimming with storytelling ideas. Plus, it introduced several actors who would become series regulars, like Roberts, Bates, and Bassett.
Despite the many terrifying moments throughout American Horror Story, the ‘Coven’ season is still the most popular with fans. However, based on what we’ve seen so far, Season 13 has the potential to be even better.
