The American Idolfamily has lost one of its own.
On July 14, as reported by various sources, Robin Kaye, a music supervisor for a fifteen-season singing competition series, and her husband Thomas Deluca, a songwriter and musician, were found murdered in their Los Angeles residence. They were both 70 years old.
According to reports by TopMob News, police officials confirmed that officers conducted a welfare check at the couple’s residence on July 14 and found a male and female who appeared to have been shot. The Los Angeles Fire Department was then summoned, and they declared both individuals dead at the scene.
Officials have informed us at TopMob News that, at the moment, neither a suspect nor a motive has been identified, however, the investigation continues actively.
It’s said that TMZ’s law enforcement contacts reported that Kaye and Deluca were both fatally shot in separate rooms within their shared home. The sources added that the house was not disturbed or disorganized, suggesting that the deaths might not have been due to a break-in.
On July 10th, the authorities were reportedly summoned to a residence following reports of an unknown, possibly armed, individual attempting to break in. Upon arrival, officers claimed they found no evidence of forced entry and conducted a thorough search before departing. It remains uncertain whether this event is connected to the recent double murder.
TopMob News has reached out to reps for American Idol for comment and has not yet heard back.
Apart from earning awards as a music supervisor on the show American Idol, Kaye also held that position for the series Lip Sync Battle, co-created by Jimmy Fallon. This program is known for creating viral sensations, like Tom Holland’s rain-drenched interpretation of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and Zendaya’s rendition of Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic.
Additionally, Kaye took on the role of music director for various editions of the Miss Universe and Miss USA competitions, in addition to the yearly NAACP Image Awards.
After news of Kaye and Deluca’s tragic deaths, American Idol shared their heartbreak.
