PS5 Pro owners have something to celebrate! Sony is releasing the highly anticipated PSSR 2.0 update today.
So, the new upscaling tech on the PS5 Pro isn’t just for every game – though it can be used across the board. PlayStation actually showcased a few titles on their blog, and the developers themselves chimed in to talk about how it’s making their games look even better. It’s cool to see them getting hands-on with the tech and showing off what it can do!
It’s always great to hear from the developers behind the games we enjoy, so let’s take a look at their thoughts on PSSR 2.0.
The developers of Silent Hill F state that the game now offers a more polished and fluid gameplay experience. They’ve improved visual details – things like grass and shadows – to make them appear sharper and more defined.
According to Maciej Kurowski, BioWare’s technical director, the latest update to the PSSR technology noticeably improves graphics in Dragon Age: The Veilguard without slowing down gameplay.
Tatu Aalto from Remedy Entertainment also praised the advancements, explaining that they enable efficient image processing without compromising clarity. He highlighted that the updated PSSR technology reacts swiftly to changes within games, resulting in smoother motion and a more stable visual experience.
Ninja Theory highlighted the improved visual quality, specifically praising the particle effects in the latest update for making important moments in the game feel more impactful.
Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, notes that visual details like character hair have been significantly enhanced compared to the original game. He also states that the game’s image processing is now more consistent, with less screen flickering and ghosting.
According to Nioh 3 producer Kohei Shibata, the development team can now display details with greater clarity than in previous games, particularly when it comes to natural elements like trees, plants, and flowers.
PSSR 2.0 significantly improves things, especially when you notice the small details – it really makes them stand out.
You’ll be able to see for yourself soon, as the update is rolling out to all PS5 Pro users now.
