After 50 years we get an Iron Maiden film…..
Iron Maiden is widely considered the most successful metal band to come out of the UK – alongside legendary acts like Led Zeppelin – and a new documentary about their history, called ‘Burning Ambition’, is about to be released.
The history of the Iron Maiden film….
Formed in 1975 by bassist Steve Harris, the band has become one of the most famous in the world. They consistently released music, starting with their first album in 1980, and have since put out 17 studio albums, 13 live albums, and 47 singles, selling over 100 million copies globally. They’ve performed nearly 2,500 concerts in 64 countries, often traveling to shows on their own Boeing 757 (later a 747) piloted by singer Bruce Dickinson.
Awards galore!
The band has won numerous awards, including a Grammy and a Brit Award. They recently joined iconic groups like the Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd by having their own set of commemorative stamps issued by the Royal Mail. Their popular beer, Trooper, is celebrating its twelfth year and has sold over 40 million pints worldwide, reaching 68 countries. It’s even available in six different versions tailored to local tastes in the USA, Germany, Brazil, Spain, Sweden, and Australia.
In 2025, the band will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a two-year world tour called Run For Your Lives. They’re also releasing a variety of special items, including their first official hardcover book documenting their history, titled Infinite Dreams.
Those comtributors!
Directed by Malcolm Venville (known for Churchill at War) and produced by Dominic Freeman (Spirits in the Forest – A Depeche Mode Film), the film Burning Ambition tells the incredible story of Iron Maiden’s five decades as a band. The documentary also includes interviews with well-known fans like Javier Bardem, Lars Ulrich, and Chuck D, who share their thoughts on the band’s impact on music, culture, and generations of fans around the world.
