Fans are imagining Ana de Armas as the next Wonder Woman as Gal Gadot won’t be reprising the role. Gadot starred in two Wonder Woman films within the previous DC Universe, with the first being well-received. However, the second film, Wonder Woman 1984, proved divisive, and plans for a third movie have been cancelled.
The future of Wonder Woman in James Gunn’s DC Universe will involve recasting the role, with a new actress taking on the part of Diana Prince in an upcoming solo movie. Ana Nogueira, who wrote for Supergirl, is writing the script, and based on the trailer for the Supergirl movie, it’s expected to be excellent. Ana de Armas is currently a frontrunner for the role.
An Instagram artist, @roots_to.the_sky, created an image showing how Ana de Armas might appear as Wonder Woman in the upcoming DC Universe.
Ana de Armas’ portrayal of Diana Prince, or Wonder Woman, has a slightly different appearance compared to Gal Gadot’s in fan-created artwork. Both actresses wear the same costume, but de Armas has blonde highlights in her hair, whereas Gadot’s hair was a darker shade, more closely resembling Wonder Woman’s traditional comic book look. If the universe is changing, maybe Wonder Woman’s appearance should change too.
When Will The Wonder Woman DCU Casting Be Revealed?
Lots of actresses have expressed interest in playing Wonder Woman, or fans have suggested them for the part. Ana de Armas is among those frequently mentioned, along with other stars like Alexandra Daddario, Adria Arjona, and Melissa Barrera, who are popular choices for the role of Diana Prince.
Even though there’s a lot of talk about who will play Wonder Woman, it will likely be several months before any casting announcements are made. That’s because the movie’s script is still being developed, and James Gunn’s DC Universe prefers to cast actors only after the script for their first appearance is finalized.
Unless Wonder Woman makes a surprise appearance in Man of Tomorrow, as some people are suggesting, DC Studios is planning to start filming the new Wonder Woman and Batman movies as soon as the scripts are finished. This means they could potentially cast the new Wonder Woman by the end of 2026.
Why Ana De Armas Would Be A Perfect Wonder Woman
It’s still uncertain if Ana de Armas will be considered for the role of Wonder Woman in the future, but fans believe she’d be a great fit. Her previous work demonstrates she has the necessary skills, particularly in action. Films like No Time to Die, Ballerina, and Ghosted showcase her impressive ability in fight scenes.
Ana de Armas has a knack for portraying both strength and charm, as demonstrated in films like Knives Out and Blade Runner 2049. She’d be a fantastic Wonder Woman, able to showcase both the character’s fighting skills and her compassionate heart, making her a symbol of hope similar to David Corenswet’s Superman in the new DC Universe.
