With excitement building for the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars, Andrew Garfield’s recent statements aren’t surprising to many fans. After previously misleading audiences about his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home, his latest comments feel like a repeat of that playful approach.
Andrew Garfield loves Spider-Verse movies, picks his Marvel team-up choices
During an interview with MTV’s Josh Horowitz, Andrew Garfield was playfully asked about potentially appearing in the upcoming Marvel film *Avengers: Secret Wars*, which will wrap up the Multiverse Saga. Garfield responded with a laugh and a vague answer, saying, “You’ll find out!” He then jokingly questioned his own reaction, adding, “Whatever that was… I don’t know. You’ll find out.”
Fans are familiar with this kind of misleading behavior. Before the release of *Spider-Man: No Way Home*, Andrew Garfield strongly denied being involved, famously joking he wasn’t ‘the Werewolf.’ His eventual return alongside Tobey Maguire was a huge and beloved surprise. Now, many believe he’s using the same tactic to avoid revealing details about *Secret Wars*.
Garfield didn’t say exactly what projects he’d like to do with Marvel, but he did mention a couple of actors he’d enjoy working with. He’s a big fan of Hugh Jackman, especially after Jackman returned as Wolverine this year. He also praised Tom Hardy, calling him a strong actor and saying they’d have fun working together.
Garfield also expressed his enthusiasm for the Spider-Verse animated films, particularly praising the work of directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. A quick clip of his Spider-Man appeared in ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ (2023), and there’s a possibility he could appear in the upcoming ‘Beyond the Spider-Verse’ in 2027.
It’s still uncertain if he’ll be back for *Avengers: Secret Wars*, which is scheduled to come out in 2027. This will follow *Avengers: Doomsday*, planned for release in December 2026. Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Doctor Doom, and the movie will feature the stars of *The Fantastic Four: First Steps* alongside many other familiar faces from the Avengers films.
