Andy Cohen Shares Heartfelt Tribute After Robert Cosby Jr.’s Death

Andy Cohen is keeping his Bravo family close amid tragedy.

Following the news that Mary Cosby’s son, Robert Cosby Jr., had passed away at age 23, the show’s executive producer offered condolences to Mary and her husband, Robert Cosby Sr.

Andy shared heartbreaking news on Threads February 25th, calling it ‘every parent’s worst nightmare.’ He expressed his deep sympathy for Mary and sent his love to both her and Robert Sr.

Salt Lake City police told TopMob News that Robert Jr. was found dead after they responded to a report of a possible drug overdose. The medical examiner is still working to determine how he died.

Following the announcement of his death, Mary and Robert Sr. released a statement saying their son was “finally at peace.”

In a statement released on February 25th, Robert Jr.’s parents shared the news of his passing, saying he is now with God. While deeply saddened, they find comfort in their faith and the belief that he is at peace. They have expressed gratitude for the prayers and support they’ve received during this difficult time.

In the weeks before he died, Robert Jr. had just gotten out of jail after being held for two months at the Salt Lake County Metro Jail. He was facing 14 criminal charges, as reported by People magazine. These included damaging property, violating a court order meant to protect his estranged wife, Alexiana Arian Smokoff, 21, and illegally entering a home with the intent to harass or scare the people inside.

After he was released, Mary shared a message about her son, Robert Jr., posting a photo of him on Instagram on February 7th with the caption, “Love you all. My beautiful son.. I love him so much.”

The Bravo series also showed Robert Jr.’s difficulties, notably in season five when he openly discussed his drug use with his mother and committed to getting help. A few months later, Mary gave Andy encouraging news about his progress.

 

During a December 2024 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Mary shared how proud she was of Robert. She explained that he went to rehab, completed a month-long program, and really transformed himself. She said he’s doing incredibly well and has become a new person.

Mary was deeply moved while sharing her family’s difficult experience, hoping their story could help not only her son, but also other parents and children going through similar challenges.

It all happened spontaneously. Robert and I just connected, and I knew we had to do something to help others,” she said, her voice filled with emotion. “Neither of us had a script or knew what we were going to say beforehand.
