Angela Scanlon shares how new The Apprentice spin-off series will differ from You’re Fired

The latest season of The Apprentice is bringing some big changes! For its 20th season, they’re welcoming 20 new candidates and also launching a companion show called Unfinished Business.

News came out earlier this year that “Unfinished Business” would replace “You’re Fired” on television. At the same time, Tom Allen revealed he was leaving his role as the show’s host.

Angela Scanlon, a well-known TV presenter, podcaster, and author, will host the new spin-off show. She’ll be keeping viewers up-to-date with all the latest happenings and discussions, and will be joined by a variety of industry professionals and celebrity guests.

Each week, the show will include new interviews with the candidates who were eliminated. Host Scanlon and the judges will then break down all the highlights and behind-the-scenes details from that week’s challenge, giving viewers a closer look at everything that happened.

Scanlon said she intends to get the inside scoop by talking to the candidate who was fired, promising to reveal the full story.

I’ve hosted a chat show before, and I tend to be very direct. So, I’ll ask the question you’re probably thinking about – the one you might hesitate to ask out loud.

Scanlon has made sure the candidates will face tough questioning after their show appearance. She says her own experience as a contestant on the celebrity version gives her insight into what they’re going through.

She explained that the candidates face significant challenges, both in the high-pressure boardroom environment and due to the time constraints and legal considerations they operate under. She feels empathy for them, recognizing that there are hidden difficulties within each task that aren’t always apparent.

It’s important to offer constructive feedback when contestants make poor choices, but also to understand how they’re feeling. Some will likely be proud of going out with a bang, while others will naturally be upset. Ultimately, it’s about recognizing what each person needs and appreciating their journey on the show.

Okay, so it looks like Google’s security check, reCAPTCHA, is blocking me from seeing this right now. Apparently, I need to sign out of something called ‘Contentpass’ to get it to work. It’s a bit annoying, but hopefully, signing out will let me finally watch what I came for! I really hate when these things interfere with enjoying a movie or show.

You can watch The Apprentice: Unfinished Business on BBC and iPlayer starting Thursday, January 29th at 10:05pm. The audio will also be available on BBC Sounds.
