Now that My Hero Academia has finished its main run, a major force in superhero anime is gone. Although a short epilogue called “More” is coming next month, the anime world needs a new hit series. While no show has yet stepped up to replace My Hero Academia, one popular anime is returning to celebrate a milestone anniversary. Following the success of live-action adaptations like One Piece and Avatar: The Last Airbender, another superhero anime franchise is planning its own live-action project this year.
Fifteen years after its debut, the popular anime series Tiger & Bunny is celebrating its anniversary with a live-action stage play in Japan. While the story and cast are still under wraps, the performances are scheduled for September and October. To get fans excited, a first look at the two main heroes in their armored suits has been revealed, offering a preview of this new adaptation.
Great news for fans! The popular anime Tiger & Bunny is getting a stage play adaptation! Performances are scheduled for September 2026 in Tokyo and October 2026 in Hyogo. Check the official website for more details. #TigerBunny #StagePlay

Who Are Bunny And Tiger?

Unlike most anime, which are adapted from manga, Tiger & Bunny started as an anime series in 2011. It began with a 25-episode first season and later received several movies. After nearly a decade, the heroes returned in Tiger & Bunny 2 in 2022, providing a conclusive ending to that story arc. While no new anime projects have been announced, an upcoming stage play demonstrates that the series still has a dedicated fanbase.
Unlike My Hero Academia, which explains superpowers through “Quirks,” Tiger & Bunny took a different approach. It introduced “NEXT” – individuals with extraordinary talents – as the source of powers. A unique aspect of Tiger & Bunny was that its heroes often acted as sponsored brand ambassadors while fighting crime, displaying company logos on their costumes and equipment. While the UA Academy in My Hero Academia prepares heroes for potential brand partnerships, Tiger & Bunny heavily emphasized the commercial side of being a superhero.
If you enjoy anime with superheroes, you have plenty of options beyond popular series like Tiger & Bunny or those featuring characters like Deku and Shigaraki. One-Punch Man is famous for its memorable heroes, and shows like To Be Hero X, Shy, and Samurai Flamenco also offer unique takes on the superhero genre.
