Warner Bros. Japan recently unveiled a new poster for the eagerly awaited live-action version of the martial arts manga series, “Wind Breaker.” The live-action film was initially announced with a preview video, which was released concurrently with the Season 2 finale of the anime adaptation of “Wind Breaker.” The initial teaser hinted at a December release for this year, but a more precise date has now been revealed. The new poster confirms that the film will open in Japanese theaters on December 5th, 2025. The vibrant lime green color scheme of the poster aligns with the primary color palette featured on the manga covers.
On the latest poster for the upcoming movie adaptation of “Wing Breaker”, all characters from the original manga and anime are neatly arranged, with Koshi Mizukami’s portrayal of the lead character dominating the center. Notably, the film accurately captures the main character’s unique hairstyle – half black, half white, a defining trait from the source material. Known for his work on live-action adaptations like “Blue Period” and “Tokyo Ghoul”, Kentaro Hagiwara will direct “Wing Breaker”. At this time, the movie is only set to premiere in Japanese cinemas; however, it’s expected that screenings abroad may follow in a limited capacity at a later date.
What Will the Wind Breaker Live-Action Adaptation Be?

The initial comic series features Haruka Sakura, a bold teenager with distinctive hair and eye colors, who has been shunned by peers. Later, he befriends a group misperceived as troublemakers from his newly enrolled school, banding together to safeguard their town Makochi from threats. The collective engages in brutal street fights against rival gangs and adversaries. Haruka’s primary objective is ascending to the pinnacle of power while comprehending the significance of camaraderie along the way.
The manga, penned and illustrated by Satoru Nii, first appeared in Madazine Pocket back in 2021. In April 2024, a two-season anime series kicked off its broadcast, wrapping up after 25 episodes on June 20th, 2025. This anime adaptation tackled five storylines from the manga, concluding with the Roppo-Ichiza/Gravel Arc. Now, you can catch all episodes on Crunchyroll. Judging by the trailer, it seems that the upcoming movie version is set to follow the early arcs of the manga, specifically the Introduction Arc and the Shishitoren Arc, which revolves around a confrontation between two fierce gangs.
It’s important to clarify that the “Wind Breaker” manga is distinct from the cyclist Webtoon comic titled the same way, which has been in the news for allegations of plagiarism and its subsequent sudden cancellation.
