Anne Hathaway’s Dramatic Oscars 2026 Gown Is, Indeed, Groundbreaking

Anne Hathaway knows a thing or two about rocking florals for spring.

Anne Hathaway, known for her role in The Devil Wears Prada, stood out with her stylish spring outfit at the 2026 Oscars on March 15th.

Anne looked stunning on the red carpet, wearing a black, strapless Valentino gown decorated with flowers. The dress featured a wide black belt at the waist and a flowing, long train. She was also a presenter at the award show, alongside Conan O’Brien, Zendaya, Paul Mescal, Gwyneth Paltrow, and other stars.

The actress finished her outfit with black opera gloves, sparkling diamond earrings from Bvlgari, and a statement-making diamond necklace, also by Bvlgari.

Anne Hathaway is known for her incredible fashion choices on the red carpet, and that creative energy is now influencing her work as an actress. She’s revisiting her glamorous side in the upcoming sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2, set to release in May, and recently transformed her look for a new role as a pop star in the film Mother Mary.

The trailer for the new film by David Lowery shows Anne experimenting with different blonde looks to play the main character. She began with a long hairstyle featuring a middle part that highlighted her dark honey-colored streaks, and then switched to a disheveled, wet-looking bob.

The change in her hair color to platinum wasn’t the only adjustment she made for the role. The actress, known for her work in Interstellar, explained that she also had to adapt her acting approach to portray Mother Mary’s vocal imperfections.

Oh my gosh, Anne said the sweetest thing in Vogue! She was talking about the music for the movie, and she said she had to learn it all. She confessed that if she’d heard it even a year before filming started, she would have practically branded every single note onto her very being! She had this whole specific process she wanted to go through with it, but it just wasn’t possible at the time. And you know what? She’s so thankful she couldn’t control things! It’s just… everything she says is pure poetry, especially when she talks about her boys, Jonathan and Jack, and her husband, Adam Shulman. It’s like she just feels everything so deeply!

Without a director to guide them, the serious themes in the show were difficult for the actors, including Michaela Coel. David mentioned that the cast almost fell apart emotionally while filming one particularly important scene.

He told Vogue that filming felt like making Apocalypse Now. He recalled a moment when Annie became upset and apologized, fearing her work would be painful for him. Michaela responded by telling Annie she loved and trusted her.
