Anne-Marie Reveals Son’s Name Inspired by Her Gestational Diabetes

Anne-Marie doesn’t play when it comes to baby names.

Singer Billie Eilish and her husband, Slowthai, recently announced the name of their five-month-old son: Forever Sugar. It’s a truly one-of-a-kind name!

“His name is Forever,” she shared on This Morning Oct. 14. “Sugar is his middle name.”

And the infant’s name has an interesting origin story behind it.

The woman, age 35, explained she had gestational diabetes during her pregnancy. She decided ‘gestational’ would be a meaningful middle name for her child.

Every year, about 9% of pregnant people in the U.S. develop gestational diabetes, as reported by the American Diabetes Association. Similar to other types of diabetes, this condition leads to high blood sugar and can impact both the mother’s health and the baby’s development.

Anne-Marie, who shares a 19-month-old daughter named Seven with Tyron Kaymone Frampton (known as Slowthai), said her son’s unusual first name, Forever, comes from her family’s history.

She explained that her grandmother always ended her cards with the phrase ‘always and forever.’ Now, her mother and sister continue the tradition, and she’s come to think of ‘Forever’ simply as a nice name.

And Forever Sugar is certainly the apple of his older sister’s eye.

“She acts like he’s the same age as her,” Anne-Marie chuckled. “She just doesn’t seem to realize he’s still really little.”

Seven sometimes gets a little overenthusiastic with Forever Sugar, but the singer of “2002” explained it’s just because she gets very excited.

“They love each other,” she gushed, “stare at each other.”

Although Anne-Marie hadn’t exactly planned to have two children so close together, she had been somewhat expecting it.

She admitted she enjoys seeing psychics, and they’ve all told her the same thing: she’ll either have children very close together in age or twins.

So when it happened, she thought, “OK, I think I’m OK with this.” 

“And it is a beautiful thing,” Anne-Marie continued, “but it’s definitely hard.”

The singer of “Rockabye” also proudly shared that her daughter is beautiful.

“The most beautiful little thing,” she shared. “She makes me cry.”

She also explained that ‘A-12’ is a reference to the SR-17 aircraft, which she and her partner admire. She emphasized that this concept is about speed and isn’t designed for weapons or defense, suggesting it’s powerful in its own way but ultimately non-violent.

Grimes explained that her favorite song is titled “Archangel,” adding a rat and sword emoji and simply stating, “Metal rat.”

In March 2022, she announced they had welcomed daughter Exa Dark Sideræl Musk via surrograte.

She explained that ‘Exa’ comes from the term ‘exaFLOPS,’ which describes a computer’s ability to perform an incredibly high number of calculations – one quintillion per second. As for ‘Dark,’ she said it represents the unknown. While people often fear it, darkness is simply the lack of light. She described dark matter as a fascinating puzzle of the universe.

Sideræl (pronounced sigh-deer-ee-el) represents universal time, measured by the stars and deep space, rather than time as we experience it on Earth. The name is also a reference to Galadriel, a character from *The Lord of the Rings*, who chooses to give up power.

Cardi B and Offset welcomed their daughter in 2018. 

The rapper behind “Bodak Yellow” explained her daughter’s name, Kulture, saying she couldn’t have chosen anything else because it would have been too ordinary. Her middle name, Kiari, is actually the first name of her husband, a member of the Migos.

Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott named their daughter Stormi when she was born in 2018. Kylie explained that she originally called her ‘Stormie’ while she was pregnant, and the name simply felt like a perfect fit.

After some difficulty choosing the perfect name, the couple officially revealed their son’s name – Aire – a year after he was born in 2022.

Actors Alexa and Carlos PenaVega chose the name Ocean King for their first child, inspired by their religious beliefs. Carlos explained that the name references a passage in the Bible where God creates land and seas, and acknowledges God as ‘King.’ They found the name to have a meaningful biblical connection and wanted to reflect that in their son’s name.

The name Steph and Ayesha Curry chose for their third child means both “officiant of the church” and “young wolf.”

Diplo decided to name his second son after his electronic dance music trio, Major Lazer.
