Another Major DC Villain Reportedly Returning in The Batman 2

Fans of DC Comics were thrilled last year when real progress finally started on The Batman Part II after a series of setbacks. Director Matt Reeves and writer Matson Tomlin completed the script, allowing production to begin this spring. With filming scheduled to start soon, everyone’s been talking about who will be in the movie. While reports say Marvel actors Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan have joined the cast in unknown roles, fans are also eager to find out which actors from the first Batman film will return. Colin Farrell is confirmed to reprise his popular role as the Penguin, and he won’t be the only villain back for the sequel.

According to a recent article in Variety, Barry Keoghan is likely to reprise his role as the Joker in The Batman Part II. He previously appeared as the Joker in The Batman, notably in a scene with the Riddler. Although a scene with Robert Pattinson as Batman was filmed, it didn’t make the final cut of the movie but was later shared online. This scene showed Batman consulting with the Joker at Arkham Asylum about the Riddler’s crimes.

What Could Joker’s Role in The Batman Part II Be?

If Keoghan has a small role in The Batman Part II, it would follow a pattern already established with Colin Farrell, who has said he won’t be in the sequel much either. This means two returning villains might not have significant parts, which raises concerns that their appearances could feel unnecessary and take away from the main story. However, director Matt Reeves has proven he can tell great stories in this world, so he deserves some trust. Hopefully, whatever role he has planned for the Joker will feel like a fitting part of the overall narrative.
