Ant-Man Star Argues That Avengers: Doomsday ‘Makes No Sense’ Without 1 Character

One of the actors from *Ant-Man* believes a crucial scene in *Avengers: Doomsday* doesn’t logically fit together unless you consider the role of his character, who is skilled with languages.

At a recent comic convention, David Dastmalchian discussed how his Ant-Man characters, Veb and Kurt, might appear in future Marvel movies. He also revealed that if he could play another role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he’d choose Morbius.

Dastmalchian suggested that his character, Veb from *Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania*, could easily be included in a future *Fantastic Four* story. He explained that if the Fantastic Four are going to be traveling through multiple universes and meeting various aliens and creatures, Veb’s ability to translate languages would be very useful.

Honestly, it doesn’t make much sense for the Fantastic Four to be traveling through so many universes, realities, and encountering all sorts of alien creatures without someone to translate. They really need a universal translator to handle all the language differences.

Considering *Avengers: Doomsday* seems poised to include a team-up like that, Dastmalchian playfully suggested he’s actively hoping for Veb to be included as one of the ‘Fantastic Five’.

He also mentioned that his character Kurt, who appeared in the first two *Ant-Man* films and *What If…?*, is surprisingly tech-savvy and “could fix all the computers at Avengers HQ.”

I’m officially suggesting Marvel consider adding Veb to the Fantastic Five. Plus, Kurt would be a huge asset fixing the computers at Avengers HQ – it would really help things run smoothly!

Dastmalchian, who has appeared in two Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, has a clear idea of a role he’d love to play next: Morbius. He’s always enjoyed horror and more unusual characters, and also thinks it would be fun to join the West Coast Avengers at some point.

I’ve always been interested in playing Morbius, the living vampire – Dr. Michael Morbius specifically. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has so many fantastic characters, and I’m particularly drawn to the horror elements and the more unusual ones. I’d really enjoy the chance to play anyone from the West Coast Avengers.

He also mentioned a few other roles he’d love to play, and one that really stood out to me was his idea for a Marvel take on Dracula! He’s always been a huge fan of the character, which is awesome.

I’m really excited about Marvel’s take on Dracula – I’ve always been a fan. I also think it would be great to see them explore other monster-related characters, like those from Midnight Suns or the classic Defenders comics.

Beyond his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Michael Dastmalchian has appeared in films like *Oppenheimer*, *Dune: Part One*, and *The Suicide Squad*, as well as numerous other projects.

What Could the Future Look Like for MCU Horror & Weirdness?

While Dastmalchian’s characters aren’t central to Marvel’s future and might not return, his mention of “the horror and the weirder characters” sparks an interesting discussion about where the franchise is headed with more unusual stories and heroes.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t afraid to get weird, as we’ve seen with storylines like the one in *What If…?* that involved Darcy Lewis and Howard the Duck having a child. It’s also experimented with darker themes, venturing into horror with projects like *Werewolf By Night*, *Moon Knight*, and *Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness*.

Marvel has a promising project, Blade, that could really highlight the darker, more unusual side of its comic book origins. The film centers on a half-vampire who hunts vampires – a character known for his dramatic look and rich backstory – and he feels like a natural addition to the more supernatural and horror-focused elements of the MCU.

The upcoming *Blade* movie has faced numerous problems during its development, including delays, disagreements about its creative direction, and issues with the script. While Marvel Studios has officially stated it’s still planned after *Avengers: Doomsday* and *Avengers: Secret Wars*, many people wondered if the project would ultimately be scrapped.

Marvel definitely has room to explore darker, more frightening stories, but it’s still uncertain if those kinds of stories will actually happen.
