I was so excited about Apple TV+’s new sci-fi show! After loving Severance and Silo, I had really high hopes when they announced a series created by Vince Gilligan, the guy behind Breaking Bad. It starred Rhea Seehorn, and when it finally came out in 2025, everyone was talking about it – the reviews were amazing, and it quickly built up a huge fanbase. It was dominating the streaming charts, honestly. But now, just a few months later, it looks like things have stalled, and I’m worried that might mean trouble for the show’s future. It’s a real disappointment!
Apple TV+’s new series Pluribus, created by Vince Gilligan and Rhea Seehorn, initially drew a large audience, becoming the platform’s biggest debut since Severance in 2022. However, unlike Severance, which remains popular – currently ranking as the 10th most-watched show globally and 8th in the US – Pluribus quickly lost viewers after its final episode. It’s now no longer featured on either the global or US Top 10 lists. Silo experienced a similar decline earlier this year and is also missing from the charts. This has actually happened to Pluribus twice; it was briefly removed from the US Top 10 in March, though it later returned to briefly reach the 10th spot.
Does any of this really matter? Not much for how you enjoy the show right now. However, it could be a bad sign for the show’s long-term success. It’s common for shows to lose popularity after a few months, especially today when people’s attention is so divided. It’s unusual for a show to stay popular for long after it ends, unless it’s causing controversy. But Apple TV+ is different. They have far fewer shows than competitors like Netflix and Prime Video. This means shows tend to stay on the charts longer, like we saw with Severance. So, the fact that Pluribus quickly disappeared from the Top 10 might suggest it won’t have a lasting impact, even with the show already renewed for more seasons. Still, when Season 2 comes out, expect Pluribus to quickly climb back to the top.
‘Pluribus’ Is the Best Original Sci-Fi Series in Years
Vince Gilligan has a unique talent for television. His show Breaking Bad is often called the greatest TV series of all time, and it’s rare for a show of that magnitude to end so perfectly. While his new series, Pluribus, hasn’t quite reached those same heights yet, it’s still incredibly original. Gilligan’s shows stand out because he takes common ideas and presents them in a completely new way. Pluribus is a sci-fi series set after a disaster, where all of humanity except for twelve people are linked together in a single consciousness.
The frightening situation becomes a darkly funny story thanks to its main character, Carol (Seehorn), who is one of the few people left. Carol, a writer of steamy fantasy novels, was hoping to get away from her job, but she definitely didn’t anticipate the apocalypse. Similar to Breaking Bad, Pluribus places an ordinary person in an extraordinary and unfamiliar world, and then challenges them to figure things out as they go.
‘Pluribus’ Season 2 May Be a While

It’s no surprise that Pluribus is getting a second season! However, production is facing some delays. The new season is now anticipated to arrive in late 2027 or possibly even 2028, as the writing process is taking longer than expected, according to creator Gilligan.
